IckyATLAS Posted February 11, 2021 Posted February 11, 2021 (edited) I do not know how difficult it is to implement, and have no idea of the cost/benefit calculation but: If we could have the pilots eyeballs move (small motions) that would create an incredible sense of reality, of liveliness of the pilot character. It moves its head, so moving slightly the eyeballs would be perfection. Same goes for eye blinking which is not the same effect but can be easier after all. You vale closed eye version and open eye version and you switch. I don't know you but often I do like to see pilots and plane nearby, and doing videos etc. that would bring an incredible sense of pilot presence. After all the Devs have continuously improved the dressing and the face detail. So know is the ultimate step is related to the eyes. Some may argue that we should then go for moving lips, but this would not at all have the same impact. Eyes are special because a living being when he has fixed eyes then this means he is dead. He may have fixed lips for long this does not mean anything abot him being alive or dead. What is your opinion on this. Lets have a poll. Edited February 11, 2021 by IckyATLAS 4 1
BlitzPig_EL Posted February 11, 2021 Posted February 11, 2021 No, just no. We have AI that can't land if there is a mountain ridgeline close to the field (Gelendzhik 3, sorry about spelling), AI that don't follow orders and mostly leave their human allies to fend for themselves, plus many other areas of the sim that need the dev's attention. Animated eyeballs???!!!??? Really? 1 2 1 10
40plus Posted February 11, 2021 Posted February 11, 2021 The biggest question is why? Outside of those who make videos and those playing a nose gunner position, who ever gets to the see the pilots anyway? Our planes, the single seated one's at least, are piloted by ghosts. 1
Gambit21 Posted February 12, 2021 Posted February 12, 2021 It’s a simple baked animation - very simple to do. Still a waste of time IMHO.
Feathered_IV Posted February 12, 2021 Posted February 12, 2021 Pupil dilation is totally fubar’d and makes the game unplayable in its current state. Me and my squad of professional optometrists will be boycotting this game until it is fixed. 8
Chief_Mouser Posted February 12, 2021 Posted February 12, 2021 (edited) No need at all. This is how I play... Edited February 12, 2021 by 216th_Cat 2
Roast Posted February 12, 2021 Posted February 12, 2021 And what about either saluting, raising one's index finger (or two for Commonwealth pilots) after downing or pulling a long nose at an enemy after downing him/her/it, While we're at it, nose picking should be an option too ? Long story short: No
[CPT]Crunch Posted February 13, 2021 Posted February 13, 2021 As soon as they activate the eyelash model.
Rjel Posted February 13, 2021 Posted February 13, 2021 I can see the end result of this blinking thing. The new female Soviet fighter pilot model could also be made to wink seductively. Imagine the effect that'll have on all of us virtual fighter pilot wannabees. It could turn this combat sim into a virtual dating sim. 1
Avimimus Posted February 13, 2021 Posted February 13, 2021 Simulating inattentional blindness on the part of AI... or AI having difficulty tracking a player aircraft (and sometimes losing contact after a pass and having to re-acquire)... that would be a significant improvement in realism and player experience. ...detailed animation of eyeballs and movement ...probably not so much That said, part of me does enjoy the Cliff's of Dover camera (simulates some of the discomfort of gee forces).
[CPT]Crunch Posted February 14, 2021 Posted February 14, 2021 Don't shoot until you see the whites in their eye's, hell, most of us can't even see their national insignia's.
=VARP=Dragunov Posted March 2, 2021 Posted March 2, 2021 "Would you be for having the eyes of the pilots animated" I just hope this is some kind of sarcasm.
Ribbon Posted March 2, 2021 Posted March 2, 2021 (edited) I hope, i mean i believe OP was trying to be sarcastic and funny with this poll! // just in case: I would rather devs go to get a beer and a hooker than wasting time and resources on this// Edited March 2, 2021 by =VARP=Ribbon 2
JG5_Schuck Posted March 6, 2021 Posted March 6, 2021 Ha Ha....... no.. But i would like to see the pilots head point in the direction the player is looking, no idea how difficult that would be to implement. And not a high priority!
Jade_Monkey Posted March 6, 2021 Posted March 6, 2021 Would be cool, but I'd rather they spend time in other things. The number of times I look at the pilot is close to zero. I'm sure it would make some cool videos though. 1
