RAAF492SQNOz_Steve Posted February 11, 2021 Posted February 11, 2021 (edited) Have been running Patriot Viper Steel DDR4 4400MHz RAM for the past month and with a bit of effort, it has been a worthwhile experience. 2 x 8 Gb of Samsung B Die RAM doesn't come any cheaper than the $137 AUD (equiv $107 U.S.) and if you do not mind testing it, can be a great choice. In my case, I had to test two sets as one stick from each 2 pack was much faster than the second stick. I now use the two best sticks and am returning the other two that fail standard XMP profile tests when using MemTest86. The tip here is to purchase from someone with a good return policy if both sticks, in your pack, do not meet advertised performance levels. To identify the best sticks, I just installed them 1 at a time and ran them at the highest XMP profile and used MemTest86. The below spec ones would fail in under 3 minutes for my tests. Currently running them as shown below at 3866MHz (with 16-14-14-28 timings) but they will run the same timings at higher frequencies. When fitted to an Intel board they would happily run 18-18-18-18 timings at 4400 MHz (with a latency of 44 ns) Running good RAM can really help Zen 3 Ryzen performance at higher resolutions.
