US attitude indicators

Hi all,

I have a rather unimportant question, but I'd love to understand the why.

It appears to me that, compared to their German and Soviet counterparts, US attitude indicators tend to lag, and even lose their sense, after a bit of harsh maneuvering, and a few dozens seconds are required for them to come back to normal.

Does anyone know why is that?

It's because of the gyroscopes fitted inside the device. These devices tend to tumble about during harsh maneuvering, and so it can take time for them to reset.

And how comes that the Soviet/German ones don't have the same problem? Do they use other mechanisms?
