Novosokolniki Map?

Of course a stupid Q: What is the Novosokolniki map?

  Is it something in development? Put there by some mod i experimented with? Something made by Sokol maybe ??

Eeeeeeh ....... Karelia map - the area of Finland ...... Did'nt knew we had that ?

I did ?, a quick tester: (PS there's a TC tank set as player, you might want to chance that in the ME).

PS this map is only winter, and it's kind of small & totally empty. I populated it a bit now with some bridges, airfield items and villages, but that's quite a bit of work.

Any one up to a joint venture on this? PM me and ill post a link to what i have so far, and you can add to it.

PS there's one tank route waypointed and a Uv2s Player plane.

 

But what i mean is placing villages, airfields, bridges etc, IMO best is properly grouped.

You don't need to populate the map manually. There is a template of buildings, bridges, etc. that you can load onto the map.

 

1. In the File menu, choose Import From File.

2. Navigate to the \data\Template folder under your game folder.

3. Choose Novosokolniki_NP_AF.Group and click Open.

It's a good idea to select all the objects loaded by the template and group them into a group called "Misc Objects" (or some other name).

We are so short of maps. For me it's the weakest point right now.

I don't know how it can be solved technically or logistically but getting one or two maps a year is not helping.

IMHO the devs have to find the way to speed up the number of maps a year, I would say in a dozen a year! How many maps do we have in the old IL2 1946?

We have such nice plane set right now and so few maps, especially in the Eastern Front: Leningrad, Kurks, Crimea, Minks, Kiev, Smolensk, etc.

We urgently need more maps.

Any one made a Novosokolniki mission yet? Started a Uv2s thing, but as soon as you run off the runway the plane seems to get stuck permanently in the snow ...

I don't think there are any missions. The Novosokolniki map was a teaser for the Velikie Luki map. It's a small cut out part of the larger VL map with some minor differences, like additional airfields. If you want to fly over Novosokolniki, look for missions/campaigns that use the Velikie Luki map.
