343KKT_Kintaro Posted February 5, 2021 Posted February 5, 2021 Canadian actor Christopher Plummer just died today at the age of 91. The badly burned Spitfire pilot, in the 1969 film "Battle of Britain"... that was him: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IcHilCkqsSs 3 1
Team Fusion Buzzsaw Posted February 5, 2021 Team Fusion Posted February 5, 2021 Plummer also played Wellington in the Russian epic "Battle of Waterloo" versus Rod Steiger as Napoleon. One of the greatest battle films ever made. A little after 1:34:30 he orders the recall of the British Heavy Cavalry Scots Grey Dragoons after they charged through the first French attack by D'Erlon's Corps and routed the French.... but then got over excited and continued on instead of re-forming. (at the time British Cavalry were renowned both for their powerful charges but also for their lack of control and inability to reform after) They are then devastated by the countercharge of the French Lancers. The sequence in the film with the Scots Greys charging in slow motion is taken deliberately from a painting of the period. 3 hours ago, 343KKT_Kintaro said: Canadian actor Christopher Plummer just died today at the age of 91. Blitzen Posted February 6, 2021 Posted February 6, 2021 (edited) I always wondered in the film he had a "Canadian" patch on his shoulder but he sounded much more like a Brit & he never once said "eh"...Well I was wrong he was s Canuck!! BTW - I loved his 4 seater MG PB and years later had a chance to purchase it, but decided the 2 seater roadster was a better choice...I was wrong ....again........sigh....
