zozoduferco Posted February 5, 2021 Posted February 5, 2021 Hi, New to this game and forum, let me introduce myself, I'm Eric, 53years old, from Belgium. And please forgive my many mistakes in English. Playing only solo, offline, I have a few questions: I have an HOTAS so I have assign the driver controls to axes, when acting as commander I can also drive the tank. But is it possible to give orders to other AI tank crew, ie: the gunner to engage a target or the radioman to open fire on soft target in range ? Is it possible to assign waypoints on the planning map and let the AI driver follow the route in autopilot ? Where is the command to lower the binocular ? I have already change the key but I' can't remenber where and the name of the function. Thank you very much.
jollyjack Posted February 5, 2021 Posted February 5, 2021 Hello Eric, I am a colleague, Belgian for 1/4th .... welcome. What Hotas system? Mission: This one even uses voice commands, but i don't have a microphone so i could not test it properly: Waypointing can be setup in the Mission Editor, also the "In-Game on screen" pilot map route. Not easy for starters, but download Jim_TM's manual. (Be aware that the Mission Editor still is a little unstable with windows 64 bit.) Besides that the autopilot for the player function appears a bit buggy still. Works partly OK and then poof. Seems also related to the F1 position you are in at the moment. Cntr V and 1-2-3 in combination with (Cntrl?) T gets you into various view and gunning positions, but i have a strong feel that it's still sort of unfinished business in TC. At least the main gun now works with my warthog joystick. I could post my input folder,if so make a backup of yours first. But i have a hardware modded warthog with a 3rd party 2 direction axis button controlling plane yaw and tank direction.

zozoduferco Posted February 5, 2021 Author Posted February 5, 2021 I have a Thrusmasters TM16000. Joystick X-Y to control the turret rotation and gun elevation. Joystick Z-axis (twist) to control the periscop. Throttle for gaz and the paddle switch for direction. Fire main and Mg,....on buttons. Works fine for me.
shrubbo Posted February 6, 2021 Posted February 6, 2021 This may be of some help. FYI I play in vr but assume it is the same across the board. Assign a button on your hotas in conjunction with the tilde key (~) to bring up the menu only when you are in the Commanders seat. When I press that button I get the command menu but I also get a white aiming circle I can place anywhere and when I press fire it locks on that position on the groud or a specific target. At this point I have to then use the F1,F2 etc... but!... There is a program called Voice Attack where you can train it to do things like say "Gunner fire" and then the program will marco the various F keys in whatever you sequence you want. I think it is about 10 bucks US. Also full disclosure. Due to lifes little challenges I have not got to set this up on this game yet however I have used it before in Elite Dangerous and am also sure I have seen it mentioned in these forums so a search may be in order. I just had a look at the page and there is a free trial so go for gold. I don't know about the way points yet. Maybe the same way? The command to lower the binoculars is (From memory here haha) in the weapons menu and about half a dozen up from the raise binoculars. It is called something like lower flare gun. I think that will get you there.
zozoduferco Posted February 7, 2021 Author Posted February 7, 2021 Hi Shrubbo, Thanks for the tips about the command menu. I do not have a nicro but I can program the HOTAS with TARGET to initiate a sequence of keys. I still have plenty of free buttons. And the binocular command works fine. 1

Left Control + 1 through 3 is for flares (green white and red not sure if order is correct), 4 is for personal weapon and 5 for bins.
gad11 Posted February 18, 2021 Posted February 18, 2021 How do you stop your gunner from automatically firing? Was in the Tiger last night and any time there was an enemy, my gunner would fire before I could take control of the gun. Thanks!

After bringing up the main command menu with "Tilde", you can try "F2" for fire control, then hit "F3" for cease fire, then either "F1, F2, or F3" to assign the command to your platoon, a tank in your platoon, or just your crew. When your ready, reassign the appropriate fire command. Just a note. The behavior is not always consistent, and is also dependent on the order you give commands. In other words, if you change the order you give multiple commands, it will very likely change the final outcome. Edited February 18, 2021 by LachenKrieg
SFC_Tako Posted February 26, 2021 Posted February 26, 2021 I can't for the life of me bring up the command menu. I have it assigned to tilde and yes, I do get the little red circle. BUT NO MENU ?

SFC_Tako Posted March 1, 2021 Posted March 1, 2021 (edited) And I AM just that. Which makes me go nuts ? WILL investigate further...hell I might just reset the controls altogether. Maybe try flying using default settings for the keyboard at least. ACHTUNG NEU!!! I paused my game, went to station notes, went out of that, unpaused, pressed backspace which I had as reserve for tilde...and then the whole menu came up. Working with both tilde and backspace after that. Have no clue as to what it was, the pause, the station notes, the backspace...will investigate further Edited March 1, 2021 by SFC_Tako
