T34 Turret Swing (upon closing commanders hatch)

Hi all

I've died for the third time tonight due to this behavior.

I've just spotted a PzIV, he has probably just seen me too, my gun is pointed almost straight at him. I bang the hatch close button, the animation plays, then suddenly and unexplainably the turret swings 45deg left. It takes me 3-4 seconds to re-acquire my target, I fire but might miss or have my shot bounce, he fires, and misses, I fire again for the same result, he fires and kills my tank! I might have killed the PzIV if I'd got that 3rd shot that 3-4 seconds could have got me.... maybe not?

Is the turret swing a game bug or a historical behavior due to the basic, cramped, 2 man/woman turret of the T34? Is there something I can do to prevent this from happening?

Kind Regards

Kim

Try keeping the turret 1 or 2 degrees off the heading of the tank. If the tank heading is 90 for example leave the gun at 92 or 88.

I have found if you do this it does not move.

Also I have found that when starting any tank, dont go from the starting driver position direct to the gun position (default Left Shift + 1) , use the next position key (default Left Ctril + C), then take control T and then Shift T.

This seems to stop the swing as well.

Actually, both the T-34s will swing up to 7° degrees either direction (and up/down) to, or in the direction of, the last view the commander/gunner has before closing hatch.  If you are already pointing within 7° of the spotted enemy and you center that enemy in the commander's view and close the hatch, the gun will swing to point directly at him.  If, in panic or inattention, you swing the commander's view off in some other direction before closing the hatch, the gun will swing 7° in that direction while the hatch is closing.

If one thinks about it a moment, one might see an minor advantage to using a gaming monitor's crosshair while playing T-34s as one can use binoculars to lay a gun on a difficult to spot-through-the-gunsight enemy.

This bug is very annoying. It has been reported many times.Still not fixed. When people say have your gun offset a little...but which direction?! You never know which way it's gonna swing after you close the hatch-left or right!!! It is a major issue when your turret moves by itself 30-45° in the middle of the fight!!!

leave it off-set by just 1 or 2 degrees. not going to make much difference when you need to move it to target.
