Shalimar Posted June 1, 2014 Posted June 1, 2014 Hello there, my first post here. I just purchased the premium version of this game on the 29th of may. The reason I bought this game is because I read an article in rockpapershotgun.com about il2sturmoik's oculus rift demo. And how the reviewer was shocked how realistic it felt. http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2013/09/06/best-of-gamescom-il-2-sturmovik-and-oculus-rift/ I have been waiting all my life for something like the oculus rift. I didn't get the dk1 but I was one of the first in line to order the dk2 (I have 2 dk2's on preorder) I will also get the cv1 and all subsequent versions of oculus rift. I have also preordered most games that will support the rift, e.g. Star citizen, elite dangerous, WT, and now il2. I am not a hardcore simmer, don't have the time nor the patience to learn 60 different buttons. But I want to experience the realism that the rift is famously providing. I also ordered an x55 (my first joystick since 1998). Please please please, add rift support, it would be heart breaking if you don't add in rift support. I am not even saying do it now, just add in native support whenever you can put aside some of your development resources for the task. Even though I have purchased the premium version of the game, if you don't add rift support I will try out the game for some time, But then the game icon will sit unused on my pc desktop. It would be a shame if you dont do justice to il2's rift support with such a brilliant demo of rift support as mentioned in the rockpapershotgun.com article above. PLEASE ADD NATIVE RIFT SUPPORT. Adding rift support will definitely increase your sales. I am a shining example of that fact. I wouldn't have bought this game if I hadn't read the above mentioned article. There aren't many games that support the rift so everyone who has a rift will be keen to buy any games that natively do good oculus rift implementation. Even in genres that they usually don't dabble in.
FuriousMeow Posted June 1, 2014 Posted June 1, 2014 You purchased games that have OR support, all of them, and aren't a hardcore simmer (can't learn 60 dif buttons) but then went ahead and bought the X55 which can do more than 60 dif button combos.... Something here seems a little off.
Shalimar Posted June 1, 2014 Author Posted June 1, 2014 I want to get into il2 and other sims that support the rift. And that's why I ordered the x55. Whats so off about that. You mean to say I shouldn't gave purchased the x55 if I wanted to try getting into hardcore sims?
FuriousMeow Posted June 1, 2014 Posted June 1, 2014 No, from your three posts I suspect something else - and it isn't that you are into "hardcore sims." "I think the oculus in 5 years will be as niche as smart phones are niche today. Facebook, Samsung, apple, Microsoft are all building their hmd's. Gaming or no gaming, vr head sets will be in every house in 5 to 10 year. And they will change the world like the Internet changed it in the 90s, the smart phone changed the world since the introduction of the first iPhone. It's a matter of time." You posted that in the hardware section seconds after posting here, and who does that? You even stated iphones as the first smartphone - but there was BlackBerry before that, and other devices - so who do you shill for?
Shalimar Posted June 1, 2014 Author Posted June 1, 2014 I am NOT into hardcore sims, as mentioned in the first post. But now with the oculus out, I want to get into the ones that support the rift. Hope this helps u understand better. As to your mentioning that blackberry was a smartphone before the iPhone, while true it was, there was even a compaq ipaq and the hp smartphone before the black berry. But what really made smartphones go mainstream was the iPhone. It was the first smartphone that went mainstream. Similarly, the Internet existed in the 60s as well, but it really went mainstream in the mid 90s. VR has existed since the 80s but now is when I think it will go mainstream.
FuriousMeow Posted June 1, 2014 Posted June 1, 2014 (edited) OR isn't out. It isn't even close to out. ARPAnet existed in the 60s, the internet didn't. There was no mainstream, the internet as a commercially available "product" began in the late 80s and early 90s. VR has existed, but it is not like the internet or smartphones with a gathering. It failed immensly, and even today it still has yet to prove itself. What made smartphones become big wasn't the iphone, it was the BlackBerry. So you're a shill, its just a question of who you are shilling for. Edited June 1, 2014 by FuriousMeow
Shalimar Posted June 1, 2014 Author Posted June 1, 2014 Well I would really like the il2 devs to implement native rift support. So I guess that would make me a rift shill.
BlackDevil Posted June 1, 2014 Posted June 1, 2014 @Shalimar: Jason said, they will support it, as soon as the rift is good enough to get a good experience. What is your problem with this ?
Shalimar Posted June 1, 2014 Author Posted June 1, 2014 If u read the above posts I don't have a problem, I'm just a new guy requesting devs to implement rift support. Thanks for your response. Where does it say I have a problem.
Sandhill Posted June 1, 2014 Posted June 1, 2014 @Shalimar: Jason said, they will support it, as soon as the rift is good enough to get a good experience. What is your problem with this ? +1 There are tons of things that should be dealt with first, and OR is on the relatively distant horizon. Even after release I can't imagine OR having any priority until it's at least acceptable and stable. All things in their time, and OR's time sure isn't now...
71st_AH_Hooves Posted June 1, 2014 Posted June 1, 2014 Ive seen the OR implementation in BoS. And I can tell you this. For a VR enthusiast, its ready NOW. But don't take my words the wrong way. VR enthusiasts are always going to enjoy nearly any title that supports VR at any level, simply because we enjoy VR. JAson and team have a very difficult job in decision making. They need to balance development Budget, time, and even perception. I feel the stance they have taken is a perfect on the fence position. They know its cool, but they also have the responsibility to deliver a good product, nothing they have done has wavered from this attitude. Though some of the decisions have gone against the wishes of some of the forum goers here. I can count myself in that group with some decisions. I myself have ordered a DK2 as I love VR. I'll also buy the CV1 when it releases. And I trust the team that when (not if) the product is ready for 1CGS to implement it, they will. For proponents and Opponents to argue constantly is ridiculous. Some like it, some don't. I know nothing Furious Meow says will dissuade me from being a Fan of VR and looking for it to succeed, as I've tried it and can finally see it as a legit peripheral. And for people to try and convince the doubters is likewise as silly. They need to try it and make up their own minds. words on a page are not going to convince anyone. 3
VR-DriftaholiC Posted June 1, 2014 Posted June 1, 2014 Rift support should include clickable cockpits.
AcesHigh Posted June 1, 2014 Posted June 1, 2014 No Rift support please, summer map instead. Thank you.
1CGS LukeFF Posted June 1, 2014 1CGS Posted June 1, 2014 No Rift support please, summer map instead. Thank you. Yes, because obviously the people who develop the maps are the same people who would integrate the OR. 2
Rjel Posted June 1, 2014 Posted June 1, 2014 If nothing else, OR support has given us all something new to argue about. I was getting tired of FMs, campaigns, flyables, online coops....ect, ect, ect.
falstaff Posted June 1, 2014 Posted June 1, 2014 Mods...please lock this thread. Just been done, and looks like a put up job (I've a fair idea who Shalimar is...a current and vocal member). ...and it's 'rabid'
