Dedicated Noob Multiplayer Questions Volume 1

Hi folks.

 

1st full week on TC and so far I've got my mouse controls memorized, got my graphic settings tweaked and downloaded a boat load of skins - thank you creators.  Got some Campaigns Started and I'm ready to get online - so I did.  So far just these questions:

 

1.) Why are some servers "joystick only?"  I'm just on keyboard and mouse for now.

2.) I normally used CTRL M to bring up the TacMap (quick missions for ex).  On multiplayer this does not work.  How do you bring up the map on multiplayer?  I found a work around ESC/BRIEFING/MISSION ROUTE and then zoom in on the map but it doesn't show my vehicle position/orientation.

3.) I was in a server by myself and got killed.  I assume this was a bot - do the bot tanks move, or are they stationary (I was in "Dogfight" mode).

4.) I was cruising along through some woods and all of a sudden my engine and steering went out - had to repair.  Is this one of those "invisible trees" I was reading about?

This is only affects planes, mouse control is still enabled for tanks!

The default key for MP map is "o", but I can't remember if that's the TacMap key or something else. Most servers also run high realism settings, which disables your vehicles positioning on the map.

Yes, many servers run AI tanks, though they are typically stationary.

Yup, that's exactly what happened.
