Denum Posted January 30, 2021 Posted January 30, 2021 Been dabbling with the big bombs online, Outside of look epic, the 2500kg doesn't seem to do much more then just taking a 250kg? Was thinking something 10x the size would have a bit more destruction! 2
TCW_Brzi_Joe Posted January 30, 2021 Posted January 30, 2021 Bigger bomb has bigger destroying radius. Soft targets can be destroyed further from bomb center, and harder targets must be near to center. There is a list of different bombs and targets somewhere here on forum, and there you can see i.e. if you have 100kg bomb, how many meters to enemy tank is needed to destroy it. 2500kg is sure devastating. I remmember destroying 4 bunkers with 1x 1500kg. I have sometimes problems to recognise what is destroyed and what not. Like dougouts/bunkers seems ok again after a while, but I know I destroyed them before. Especially on snow maps. Good hint is to aim just ones with whole ammo boxes around.
[DBS]Browning Posted January 30, 2021 Posted January 30, 2021 (edited) Bomb damage decreases exponentially with distance, so you get diminishing returns if you try to increase the size of the bomb to destroy things more distant from its impact. A bomb 10 times as big will do 10 times more damage at it's impact site, but won't destroy an object 10 times further away. Not even 5 times further away. If you want to destroy many fragile objects such as buildings in a large area, use many small bombs. If you want to destroy a single, large and tough such as a ship or bomb-hardened structure, use a larger bomb. If you want to destroy an object that small and tough like a tank, tiny cluster bombs are best as a hit with a small bomb will be far more effective than even a near miss with a larger one. We don't currently have many targets ingame that the largest bombs are suitable for. Some heavily fortified objects or bomb resistant structures would be nice.
