slikslik Posted January 29, 2021 Posted January 29, 2021 Hi all...I need help with starting Steam VR games using Pitool, and or Pimax VR Experience. I've read that all I need running is Pimax VR Experience Do I have to open Steam VR first? Can I avoid opening steam and do it all with P Experience? I start Pitool, open Pimax VR Experience, and then what exactly do I do from there? I read that P VR Experience lets you start steam games, adjust graphics, backlighting, resolution etc etc., but I don't know what, if any, other software should be running. Do I exit Pitool after opening P VR Experience? I just need some guidance to make loading games etc. as simple as Pimax says it is. All help is greatly appreciated. Take care....
ICDP Posted January 30, 2021 Posted January 30, 2021 (edited) When you tart a VR game from Pitool Experience it should open SteamVR automatically. Personally I don't use Pimax Experience and just use Steam VR. To run Il-2 VR, Start Steam VR from Pitool app (not PE) first without putting on the HMD, then run Il-2. Edited January 30, 2021 by ICDP
TCW_Brzi_Joe Posted January 30, 2021 Posted January 30, 2021 Pimax experience (PE) is ok if you play vr games with vr controllers, and you like to change games without taking HMD off. I do not use it, as it steals focus after I am done with playing, ant then I have to force close it with alt+F4. Generaly you can start game trough pitool, PE, desktop shortcut of game, and either steam or oculus. Practicaly it is same, if you have all that installed. Maybe in PE you have more settins to force game your way, but 99% it starts any way good. (I.e. Quake 2 vr mod I can start right just trough PE) And for IL-2 you want to avoid PE, as you need some other programs for this game. My order for IL-2: 1) Pitool + set large fov, no reprojections 2) Steam (actualy not needed, but sometimes my resolution is wrong without it running) 3) steam vr 4) joy2key 5) Neck saver (to check 6) I start game trough steam, and choose vr. 1
slikslik Posted January 30, 2021 Author Posted January 30, 2021 Thanks guys. It would appear, I really have no need for PE. For me, that's a good thing. I'll do it the way suggested. I never did like the PE software from the get go. Too damn confusing. Thanks again all take care...
