As i wanted to give my never used (but Steam registered in 2019) BoS BoM, and 3 collector planes to my Son in Law, i was told that was impossible.

BUT THESE PRACTICES ARE ILLEGAL: https://wccftech.com/steam-resell-games-french-court/

That is just one lower court finding, being appealed.  I know not where this case has got to, but it will probably go on for years and end up at the ECJ. Too early to say there is illegality with certainty.

As I understand it, Steams argument is that you are paying for a service that gives access to the games, rather than buying a licence for the game.

I don't think it's a very convincing argument.

There are more important cases going through the EU courts in regard to the way Steam treats publishers. For example, Steams typical clause that games can't be sold at a lower price outside of Steam, which severely limits other stores ability to compete with Steam.

I like Steam, but such practices are bad for all of us. Steam included in the long run.

That's why i avoid Steam as much as possible. I bought some stuff there, last was Tobruk, never play it really, but out of support for TeamFusion.

With IL2 the general resale situation apparently is the same, but Olga (Olya?) seems to be our savoring angel when something goes wrong.

But a lot of us are getting quite older, and what happens to the quite expensively bought licenses on IL2 when you pass on?

They  should be at least be transferable to any heir who's interested, even if he wants to resell it ?.
