Messed up sound, distorted or missing, crackling

Hi with the new PC I have now problem with the sound.

When I accelerate the game, I have totaly messed up sound (only after the time acceleration) which can be repaired only by restarting PC.

It seems to me that it only occurs on heavy missions in the career.

I didnt notice that in other games, but I have small crackling sound when Im watching movies.

I suppose it isnt related to IL2. I have tried to verified files in IL2 but the problem is still there.

I found this thread:

https://www.reddit.com/r/MSI_Gaming/comments/el6e8m/psa_audio_poppingcrackling_potential_fix_for/

you can hear the crackling sound in the background. In IL2 sound is totaly distorted or missing.

Im using integrated soundcard on the motherboard. Reinstalling drivers didnt help.

Is anyone experiencing the same problem? I dont want to mess with the voltages of the ram.

Thanks!

Related to Il-2, it only supports sound in Stereo. Using other sound settings can apparently cause problems. Might be worth checking in case you are using something else, BUT considering you are having the issue with movies it could be certain sound ranges triggering the crackle, rather than any issue with Il-2.

im using stereo only and youtube videos dont do this.

I will reinstal win10 and il2 tomorrow, hopefuly it will help. I can live with the video crackling, but the sound in IL2 is totally broken.

Onboard sound isn't great but usually is not problematic this day in age.

I would try changing the sample rate in the sound device properties (try a bunch of different values to see if one doesn't crackle)

You could try finding better drivers (probably Realtek) for your device on the web, sometimes Windows does not install the best drivers by default.

If you have an SPDIF output on the back of your motherboard, you could try getting a cheap digital to analog converter (around 20 euros), and hook up to  your speakers that way.

You could try using the DisplayPort or HDMI out on your videocard as the sound output (usually only goes into something like a monitor unfortunately)

You could buy a cheap or not so cheap soundcard (preferably an external one to avoid interference) These start at about 20 euros and a very good one with game-centric features would be around 100.

Hey, bit of a Necro but I just rebuilt my computer as well, new CPU, new motherboard and - lo and behold, it's the exact same mobo and processor you have, and the exact same problem in game. I haven't noticed any crackling outside of IL-2, neither with movies, music or other games, but in IL2 the sound disappears, crackles, stutters, and generally just breaks. It's especially prevalent in twin-engine planes like the PE-2 or ME262. Did you find a solution?

Hei, i have reinstaled win10 and il2.

I didnt have much time to play, so i dont really know. I tried two missions and it was ok, but i think it will show again. Need to test it, but im so pis.... off by the bad performance in the career mode, that i dont want to fly anytime soon. Occasionaly I run TC qmb and thats all.

In the movies it was caused by Pot player and codecs. I have switched to Vlf player and its much better.

Do you have it in qmb or in the career?

I will try some missions through the weekend and i will let you know.

Appreciate it. I've tried a couple of things and I've confirmed it only appears in IL2. I've only noticed it in QMB and Missions, but that's also because I haven't had the chance to fly twin-engines in multiplayer yet. The ME262 with its big wooshy engines remain the best test case - sound starts crackling and then cuts out for one or both engines, back and forth with varying intensity. My first thought was that the old bug with disappearing sounds was back, as it seems to happen more often the more other sounds are playing - and previously IL2 had issues when too many sounds were going off simultaneously.

Other games, movies, music etc are all fine.

Hi,

from my very limited testing today I wasnt able to reproduce the completely broken sound bug I was refering to in my first post.

I dont have time to play career, mission are too time consuming. I wil try again

Anyway the partialy missing sound in Me262, Tempest (maybe in other planes too) are still there and it is nothing new, I have this bug all the time, even on my older PC.

It is the dissapearing sound bug and it is still there.

My sound bug was completely broken sound of the engine(in my Bf109 career) with sometimes clear sound of the radio or other aircraft system (like flaps, gears), sometimes everything was broken. If I will experience the bug again I wil try using my Headphones USB soundcard. Good thing is that it is possible to record track of the messed up sound. I had it, but deleted it. No one was experiancing the bug, so it was pointless to try post it in the bug forum. Now I will post it if I find it again.

Yeah I've noticed it less after lowering the in-game volume to 50. Strange thing but the lower the in-game volume (even if I maintain the same effective volume by turning up my speakers) the less crackling and popping.
