Finally - some firm info.

http://forum.vkb-sim.pro/viewtopic.php?f=26&t=5054

Programmable electronic detents certainly look interesting, a new concept. Also three different models with three different price points is nice.

Plus interchangeable hats like we saw initially in the new MCG Ultimate grip.

Not as nice as the original design they show-cased imo, looks a bit Fischer-Price if I'm frank.

Finally!  An announcement!  Now for the wait.  Again.

Looks very nice and I hope the price stays reasonable as they move toward production and release.  It's taken a long time to get to this point.

It was nice of them to use a black background for pictures of their black product.

Looks quite interesting.

I am curious, do these add-ons exist already, like the Harrier UFC that is included in the pictures or other things like that?

Hello,

Pictures does not represent what will be delivered. The images shown are take from a devkit. They say that they do not want to show the real final product to be sure not to be copied.

So final product should be different... Wait and see...

Have fun

Those prices, if they stick, make them comparable to GVL throttles, but without the huge variety.  Guess it will depend on how the base is configured.  I do expect the VKB unit will have superb build quality (my GF III certainly does.)

In (VKB) stores for a while no, just in 3D renders, mock-up or prototypes. :)

I'm just glad they are finally in a position to show a version of the device. Between this and the NXT expansions, we will at least have more throttle options available to us.

Hello,

"Not only grips are a separate module,......".

"separate module" ??? Does it mean that the grips are interchangeable (like the gunfighter and the different gips) ?

Thanks

Yes, the idea in TECS is allow exchange throttle grips like is done in VKB bases that accept multiple VKB joystick grip (KG-12-B, SCG, MCG, F-14).

But at release (when?) only this "Su57'ish" grips will be available.

Well, in VKB's world, this counts as an "update" on TECS:

Love my GFIII, but I'll stick with my CM3 thank you very much. I am sure electronically it will be advanced and a quality build, but it does look like a fisher price kids toy as someone else said. Put in the same room, my CM3 would kick that little toys ass all over the place. Just kidding, but it looks cheap. Not impressed.

I’m not impressed either. And it looks a lot like the GNX form the split second I’ve seen it. Well, as long as my GVL keeps going, I’ll have something.

Truth be told, I haven’t fired up the sim since February. Yes, didn’t even start it to check the Normandy release, so I may as well call it a day and move on.

Good grief VKB, was not sure what I was watching there - looked more like an advert for dancing shoes.

That will do nothing to motivate me to try a new throttle especially as I have a Virpil CM3 - no dancing shoes required.

Lol! Possibly the worst advert ever for a piece of fight sim hardware. LMAO! I tried to fast forward a bit thinking it would cut to more footage and maybe some dialogue about the new tech, but no, more nail on the chalk board, hair standing up on the back of my neck, cringe inducing tango dancing and music was what I found. I had to turn it off quickly before I was so upset that I began to look for a different brand of joystick just so I didn't ever have to admit I own a VKB GFIII. Shakes head violently, making slathering Jar Jar Binks sounds trying to get bad taste out of mouth. Sorry, but IMHO, that whole modular throttle and connectable panel setup has looked cheap and toy like from its' inception. After first seeing it a while back, I never gave it a second look, and after this bad advert most likely will never give it another look. Now Blade, don't hold back, tell us how you really feel. Still love my GFIII, CM3, SharKa panel, Crosswinds and awesome GVL trim panel, so back to Normandy and DCS Channel map to fly my warbirds with some quality hardware. Shoooo, I feel better and have already almost forgotten that bad advert. LukeFF, I keyed in a data stream through the matrix to Mr. Smith to request that you be banned for 3 days for personally attacking me by posting that add. Bad LukeFF, BAD!

:rtfm:

Edit: DB, I included your name when I contacted Mr. Smith as well just for starting this thread!!!

Well.. that dancer was pretty hot (the female one), I'll give it that.

Other than that... I guess they've been so burned by the endless development story of The Throttle That Shan't Be Named (tm) that the only way for them to publish any "new" info at this point is to bury it in some sort of artsy-fartsy concept-video that looks like a rejected French TV-ad from the 1990s or something.

I did make a prediction of a late 22/early 23 release of this thing and I sure hope this is evidence that I may have been correct - but I'm not holding my breath at this point. Seriously considering an upgrade from WHT to Virpil at the moment - with a statement by VKB that was a bit more concrete than "TANGO!" I might as well hold off on my purchase, but this super short clip at the end doesn't really mean anything as far as I'm concerned.

Still: electronic, adjustable detents would be great to have... especially in IL-2 where I've killed many a DB605 already with improper throttle settings ... ?

Speaking of which and since I've seen at least one Virpil user in here: How do the detents on that throttle work? Do they always cut in at a certain, physical throttle setting (think the WHT's do at around 66% or so - so useless for 109s and 190s) or can that be adjusted mechanically without custom parts?

About the only thing this latest advert from VKB has done on my end is motivate me to take a closer look at the newer Virpil CM3 Base and metal Alpha Prime grip.

Only reason I have not is I still love my extended Gunfighter MK III with Ultimate metal grip and I really have no reason to replace it. Though I guess it would be nice to have all my hardware the same - with my Virpil CM3 Throttle and my Virpil Rotor collective.

So the gist is that they've been faffing around watching dance videos and got delayed?

I think I'll just quote myself from that video's comment section:

if there's time and money to produce this sort of image-film, then that must mean the Throttle That Shan't Be Named (tm) is ready for release.... right? Right?

Not to be laughing at my own joke, but... : ?

I dunno man, all I saw in that regard was a guy minimizing a video window and getting back to work measuring a button with calipers. So I guess maybe "we still aren't sure about the button sizes" is the message?

That "The Throttle That Shan't Be Named (TM)"  is in sync with this program:

I am not to happy with my VIRPIL grip. I fond the hatswitches kind of cheap compared to my other stick.

Which one are you using?

Not sure but the popular one of plastic. I got a custom made polish one. Its hatswitches are better quality but no click buttons integrated in hatswitches. I think the hatswitches in alpha grip and collectives suffer by the multifunctional options getting the hatswitches feel cheap
