It's essentially a very old version of War Thunder. I played it a lot back when I was a kid, had a lot of fun. Not quite sure why there were dozens of Me-262s and Me-163s flying over Berlin during the assault on the Reichstag though.

Aw, c'mon. It wasn't that bad. I'm not even a DC fanboi and found it a decent distraction.

It was my first lockdown movie. I think there were three of us in the entire theater on a Friday night.

I never got into Birds/Wings of Prey, but a year and a half ago I got Birds of Steel as it had some things that are currently not in any IL-2 game, such as Swordfish, Avenger, and places like Ruhr, Kherson, and had the PTO, and was not over-the-top with planes and eras like War Thunder is. However, I really didn’t like how planes such as the B-17, Lancaster, PBY, and “Mavis” were flyable, but didn’t have cockpits and just had the bombardier and (arcade style) gunner stations. If there’s no cockpit, then just leave it AI.

I also never got the hang of dogfighting with the controller because unlike a Joystick the controller is very difficult for rudder inputs, so I had to put it on simplified, which is something that I never do in other games. If I’m able to hook up my Joystick to the Xbox then I’ll come back to Birds of Steel.

 

I salute those who are able to dogfight with a controller.

Think I played these on ps3. They were pretty good as far as console sims go, since there aren't any. It's just hard to fly flying game with a controller on a console compared to a full HOTAS and rudder pedals on PC...there's no comparison. PC wins. Same reason I can't play Gran Turismo anymore. Driving a car with a controller sucks.
