Thrustmaster T16000M hotas v Thrustmaster TCA Officer Pack Airbus Edition

Hello all.

 

I just got the IL2 game for 9 years old son and he is enjoying it playing with the mouse. I thought I might buy him a joystick and maybe a throttle as well. So I am looking at  Thrustmaster T16000M hotas and  Thrustmaster TCA Officer Pack Airbus Edition.

 

I am definitely getting him a joystick but  not sure about the  throttle as well because of the price and mostly because I am not sure how long he will play the game since he might get bored of it after a few weeks. Does having the throttle make a big difference?

 

The reason why I am thinking of Airbus edition is because he enjoyed Microsoft Flight simulator but go bored of it. I thought maybe if I got him a joystick and throttle he might enjoy it more. So perhaps I am looking for an option for a versatile set up. So if I am thinking playing IL2  and Microsoft Flight simulator which set up would be best?  What do you think? Any ideas or opinions would be appropriated. Thank you for your time.

TWCA throttle is more versatile.

 

TCA Throttle is more specific (an Airbus throttle), buy can be expand with additional modules for have more functions, and more important their two throttle axes are on contactless sensor.

 

In TCA stick are one button more than in FCS, on the rest they are equals, minus obvious grip appearance.

Thank you for the reply.  Can I ask if getting the throttle makes a world of difference when playing the game?  I am scared of paying for both the stick and the throttle  and then my son will get bored of the game after a few weeks. So i was thinking of getting only the stick.  But then  I am also  conscious that if he had the right tools for the game he might enjoy it so the throttle is important. Get the throttle or not? Since youngster enthusiasm with flight games can be an ephemeral thing, is good idea start with joystick only, has a small slider on base that can be used as throttle.

 

But if you find (Thrustmaster) FCS or TCA stick only for prices around $130, get VKB NXT instead,  better hardware that cost around the price.
