An interesting story about "The Spitfire"

I've recently been telling this story to some of my flying friends (some of whom play War Thunder, which I'm trying to get them into IL-2 as I speak) who think it's hilarious, so I've decided to tell this story here.

Many years ago when I was in Grade 12, the staff brought an old television in which one could play VHS tapes on it. One day someone played one of these Pixar movies that came out in the early 2000s, a movie that I hadn't seen in at least 10 years. This inspired me to play the movie, “Apollo 13” on that television set, which attracted a small audience, mainly Grade 9s, but some staff as well. I even pointed who portrayed the Captain of the Aircraft Carrier at the end of the movie.

Later that year I decided to play another VHS tape on that television set. Going through the collection of VHS tapes at my house, I found several, but they were mainly animated movies which I’d only play if I had to. But then I found this VHS tape that read on the side, “The Spitfire”. I decided to play this, believing that it would be about the Supermarine Spitfire.

As the program was playing, it started off on a ranch where there was a man and a woman standing. I believed that it would eventually lead to the man going off to England and fighting for the RAF. Then a teacher assistant, a particularly older man with white hair asked me what I was watching and eventually said “Ooh, Bonanza.” I look at him with a facial expression that said “What?”. But the teacher walked away.

Then on the program, another man walked onto the ranch, there was a quarrel between the two men, one man pulled out his rifle and started shooting the other man, before the latter shot the former. I was very puzzled as to what was going on, and, should I be playing this at school?

At that moment the opening credits play. In reality, this was an episode of the Western show, “Bonanza”, called “The Spitfire”.

When I got home I had  an interesting story for my family. My mom told me that my grandmother loved that show, so that's probably how the VHS tape made it's way to my house.

Cheers.
