Hello everybody, just wondering if the data streamed out of the simulator can be used somehow to output a feedback through a custom program.

My idea is to use an Arduino board to visually indicate a warning in case of stall or any other info it might be of interest.

In the attached diagram see what I have in mind.

A UDP listener decodes data on a given port and tranlsate for the arduino via the COM port.

Do you know if is there something similar involving open hardware projects?

Thank you
HB

I've wondered this before as well, we do have UDP output because it was introduced for SimShaker Wings. This does include stall data.

But I think the external gauges support, originally announced for BoK has been put on the back shelf.

I looked at Simulink as a potential to capture the UDP data but don't have the time to investigate further.

Regards,

M

Hi Marcost, I've already look at that content and apparently I should be able (adding those lines in teh cfg file) to receive some data.

So I downloaded a generic UDP receiver (https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/p/udp-sender-reciever/9nblggh52bt0?activetab=pivot:overviewtab) but when I enter the port number for "receive" only option I don't get anything...

do you have any suggestions for this to work?

thanks,

HB

Sorry I didn't get that far. If I was troubleshooting I would first double-check that you are outputting UDP packets from IL2. You can download the free demo of SimShaker Wings, that will tell you if there is UDP output to that software. There is a data received log on the main page of Wings which shows the packets received in real time.

Perhaps the config is unique to that software? Have you checked that the port number in the config is the same as the one in your listener? Or that you have changed the port number in the config to the one of the listener, if it is fixed. Someone more technical might know a reason why you can't receive the data, once you have checked it is being output.

Regards
