2nd_TAF/602Sqn_Puff Posted January 25, 2021 Posted January 25, 2021 Been using a fantastic printed unit, but wanted to go to metal...after two weeks , lots of mucking around, scrap metals and wood, here is the final result. just waiting to get a printed box to hide the electronics then install. 11
2nd_TAF/602Sqn_Puff Posted January 25, 2021 Author Posted January 25, 2021 Unfortunately, no, was hard enough to work out without adding that, I did put a small pushbutton switch up at the top of the back panel, allowing me to press that for the boost.
SYN_Vander Posted January 25, 2021 Posted January 25, 2021 Wonderful! Now make another one before the Mossie is out!

Sokol1 Posted January 25, 2021 Posted January 25, 2021 (edited) Spit40 Most of the WW era fighters have a stop in throttle course, before the area of throttle that engage de "emergency boost/takeoff power/boost/WEP", very few have a switch for this, like commonly is modeled in combat flight games. Up to KM.IV Spitfire throttle have that red lever that need to be flipped, but even after do this is need move the throttle lever for left - hence the "Z" in throttle rail, for bypass a indentation in throttle rail for move throttle lever 100% open. In Mk.IX have only the "Z", for allow throttle lever move for left, and in "ball plunger" inside, supported by the adjustable piece labeled Combat and Take-off & Climb. See in the pictures in this topic some of this details, difficult to figure in original drawings. https://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/39985-sell-throttle-gvl/?do=findComment&comment=1045153 Machot of Heritageflightsim include this detail in their throttle plans set, after we talk about in SimHQ or ATAG forum. https://heritageflightsim.com/product/spitfire-mk-ix-presentation-engine-hand-control-plan-set/ https://heritageflightsim.com/2018/03/ BTW - For IL-2:GB series the "detent" need send a DX button press, because the Boost is modeled in button/key press, in DCS Mk.IX is the throtle movement after a given % - don't remember exactly what % engage the Boost, the detent is physical feedback for the pilot. And in the mentioned Mosquito, for engage the boost is need press two tabs ahead the throttle, for by-pass the physical detents and move throttle ahead, similar to the way that is for MiG-21 afterburner. 2nd_TAF/602Sqn_Puff Posted January 26, 2021 Author Posted January 26, 2021 Added an indent , actually I put one of the screws further through the body which stops the throttle going full forward but allows me to push it inwards and go past the 'gate'....thanks for that
Spit40 Posted January 26, 2021 Posted January 26, 2021 Great info guys. A little step in the throttle guide would be easy to design. Or a ball bearing/plunger at the some point. I just need to find out what point. Around 80% ?
