Navigation lights

Great update. 

If possible and as Nav lights have received some attention.... would it be possible to have them all off by default at the start of missions unless the player turns them on? 

Really bugs me seeing them all shining bright even in daylight as the aircraft taxi around. Please?

I think the navigation lights really let this simulation down, so much so that it would be better to disable them completely.  If there is not an easy solution for more realistic navigation lights then better to do without IMHO.  Please consider this development team.  Thank you.

Tracers could do with some attention too, they're easily the worst graphical effect in the game right now. At the risk of prying open a fresh wound, I didn't care much for the new spotting changes when it's easier to spot folk by their Star Wars blaster-fire emitting from the gunports at extreme range.

Check the mods department I’m 100% sure there must be a mod that suits your tracer effect.

Thing is though I remember flying Warclouds and Nav Lights were used to draw attention to yourself if you were under attack, a cry for help..... but it was the players choice. 

I fly offline and hate (with a vengeance) starting on the apron, bright daylight and all the aircraft have Nav lights on.... Why!? 

 

 Now if I switch my Nav lights on, sure let all the Ai turn theirs on, but if my lights are off... then make the Ai turn theirs off. 

 

It must be a simple fix in the code to have:

Start Mission - Nav Lights on = 0

 

 

Let me choose if Nav Lights are on... a simple request?

Rest assured, the "tradition" has carried over into IL-2 GB and is still used when in a pinch to call upon friendlies flying near by to help you out. When working as a team, due to the lights being so prominently visible - it overcomes any spotting difficulties. :)

 

Hell, we and many others use it to signal who is a leader in the formation for easier forming up.

 

One of the most unrealistic features in a flight simulator that strives to be as realistic as possible. Go figure...

Get ride of them if you can’t tone them down.  And give the players a few extra flares; 4-5 of each should be enough.

 

It’s annoying to see how the nav lights are abused. Also ridiculous that they are much brighter during the day than night. They kind of look good at night.

My favorite are the blue clowns on Finnish who take 10 109s and camp over the enemy temporary base and send one guy in with lights on as decoy and then pounce on unsuspecting noobs who climb at the lights to pursue. This drives me nuts lol. I also agree re: the star wars tracers.

It's not just the blue side abusing this, everyone is. IMHO it is funny how they strive to achieve as realistic as possible spotting in this game, yet we have completely overdone nav lighs combined with star wars tracers. Something just doesn't add up... ?

 

We need to be more vocal about this, just like with the old spotting system.

I saw this yesterday on finnish.. Even for some blue players like me, many feel upset for seeing this.

I messaged the guys who run the server about it...they did not care one iota about vulching or the abuse of the overdone lights.

They are server operators they cant do anything about broken nav lights.

Regarding vulching server is build to promote it it even have bases build for flak free vulching, its in rules that its alowed so players are simply misinformed if they are suprised by the amount of vulching there, people who like it play there people who dont like it have other options, its same as people being suprised they are killed in parashoot when they play on TAW, one of goals is to kill you when you bail out if your suprised by it you didnt read rules of server you play on.
