I/JG54_chuishan Posted January 24, 2021 Posted January 24, 2021 I built a mission recreating the Siege of Tobruk in May 1941, and I'd like to run it on lobby so that my friends can join playing it. But when I tested the mission on local server, it loaded ok but the 'Start Battle' button did nothing... This is the mission I made, can someone help me in solving this issue? Thanks in advance! ? DD_FT- Posted January 24, 2021 Posted January 24, 2021 Now I am not sure whether the 'Lobby' functionality even works, however, your mission does show errors when I try and run it on a dedicated server, and because of these two errors, the mission will not load: [0] ERROR [AIR] MissionLoad: point 0 is not connected on airdrome 'airdrome0' [0] ERROR [AIR] MissionLoad: point 0 is not connected on airdrome 'airdrome1' Either lose the airdrome0 and airdrome1 objects, or add 'airdrome points' to each of them. (I do not think you will need them, unless you want to specify each and every spawn point. Well, you probably will not want to do that, as, well, that is the bit you have left out...) You have a lot of Static objects (nearly 2000), and one (or more) of those results into an error "Object reference not set to an instance of an object." Also resulting in 'mission not loaded' ... Which one? I do not know, there's too many of them in there for me to figure out which one ... too much work for me! One thing to add: It's one of the Static objects below Static1449. As when I remove all of those below Static1449 the mission will load. (In the dedicated server that is) (To figure out which one it is, I would delete half of the objects, save mission, see if it loads. If it does, add the deleted block, next, delete half of it... load mission... and so on... With that many objects... that's a lot of work! ) Attached is your mission, edited by me, where I have removed the Airfield objects. Good luck! Tobruk May 1941 mod 1.zip Well, can't really stop myself... I'm still searching. At the moment, the offending object is between Static59 - Static1709
DD_FT- Posted January 24, 2021 Posted January 24, 2021 These appear to be problematic: Static1720 ShipUnit.HMS_LCA gb 159856.83 186519.03 1265.00 /sleep 0/skill 2/slowfire 1 Static1719 ShipUnit.HMS_LCA gb 159857.05 186528.63 1265.00 /sleep 0/skill 2/slowfire 1 Static1718 ShipUnit.HMS_LCA gb 159857.05 186536.27 1265.00 /sleep 0/skill 2/slowfire 1 Static1717 ShipUnit.HMS_LCA gb 159856.17 186543.91 1265.00 /sleep 0/skill 2/slowfire 1 Once I remove those, no more error "Object reference not set to an instance of an object." Now even after these 'fixes', it still will not work in the Lobby. My mp missions do not work that way either, so I think 'Lobby' is not really working....

Tobruk May 1941 mod 1.zip 41.02 kB · 2 downloads Hi Chuishan. Your mission is working in my computer. I chose the axis side and flew one CR.42. No problem in my computer, the lobby is working in multiplayer dogfight mode. Please check your realism options, and untick all boxes in the "Aircraft Switching" section, exactly like my own settings: 1

Especially DD_FT thank you for your time and effort in helping me find the problematic objects.??? I removed the LCAs and everything works as intended. As to recreate the situation in May 1941 I did extensive research, so that I could place correct number of AAs and aircraft in the battle, also details like field gun trenches. That's why there are so many static objects on the map. BTW, I suppose FMB cannot stand too many objects? Since I suffered from several crashes when editing. After reducing the amount of objects it can load normally again. Is there any specific limits for the FMB? 2
DD_FT- Posted January 24, 2021 Posted January 24, 2021 Not sure what the limit of objects in one mission would be ... I think crashes mostly occur when using them error-prone objects... Some error in the mission file makes the editor crash, not just the sheer number of objects. Nice job on the research regarding the situation, and into that detail!

Nice job on the research regarding the situation, and into that detail! Nice to know that! ? Next time when I suffer from crashes I will check for errors first instead of deleting objects like a no-brainer. And thank you for your tiring but effective method for searching the buggy object. I'd like to share my work with you here. Buggy objects has been removed and I have added some bomb crates on the Tobruk No. 1 Airfield and the town itself. It may look crazy but take off and landing is ok actually, as long as you are careful enough. The amount and specific types of AA batteries within the Tobruk ring accurately duplicate the historical strength of the 4th Anti-Aircraft Brigade. The amount and types of field guns and anti-tank guns also match historical situations. I cannot locate all the guns accurately though, that's a pity. I also locate all the historical bases of RAF, Luftwaffe and Regia Aeronautica air units on the map. I used object templates coming with the game and also templates originally designed by jimeez-weebly (the images of the templates can be found here but unfortunately all the links have been down http://jimeez.weebly.com/flak.html ). They are absolutely amazing. A few airfield points are also added to suit multiplayer situation. I would be very happy if my work can bring you guys some sense of immersion or if it can help you as a base for a better multiplayer/singleplayer mission. Thank you again for your assistance, and here's the map: Tobruk May 1941.zip Edited January 25, 2021 by I/JG54_chuishan
DD_FT- Posted January 25, 2021 Posted January 25, 2021 Cool stuff I/JG54_chuishan! And thanks for the mission. I will check and see whether I can make it the base mission/map to run on the DangerDogz Tobruk server... Glad I could help, and you are very welcome!

For example, if you add many * "Windsock heavy" object in a mission, above a given limit - don't remember exact (are a topic about), but seems 59, all stop work, seems that game engine are not able to handle all their ... "FM". ? *Happens that someone try made a template for MP use, populating all airfields with one windsock in each runway end, and they don't work - their cone don't "fly", because the limit has been exceeded. 1
