Is the 'track cut' result a bit too prevalent? It seems that most hits cause the track to break, resulting in a ten minute repair. IRL the lower part of the tank would often be partly screened.

yes in this game it often happens that the tracks breaks! and even more if you position the tank at an angle!

the fact of putting the tank in angle allows it to better resist the shells, because its armor increases but suddenly the track is more exposed to the shots!

ain't fair, we need AA trucks ...

The AA vehicles are going to provide endless possibilities for high speed (relatively) tank killing fun.  Hiding just inside a tree line, an enemy tank rolls by...  TAKATAKATAKATAKA!!!!!!  Shoot the near side track and bogey wheels off, race around behind the now disabled tank, because the turret rotation can't keep up, BLAMBLAMBLAM!!!  Damage the other track.  Then run away laughing while peppering the engine deck, vision blocks, and other exterior small bits.

This is going to be fun.

The collision damage model for tanks I way off, I don’t mind moaning about it again. The damage caused by colliding with trees or invisible objects is too severe and is an immersion killer.IRL hitting a tree would not damage the engine or the tracks, at the most you might rip off a track guard, or bend one onto the track, or rip off an aerial, the driver would get a kick in the back of the head to boot but that would be it.

Depends on the size of the tree but tanks with the weight of 20-30 tons can easily damage internal components if driven too fast into a big tree, done that mistake myself and had to wait for repair crew coming up to fix my tank in the military xD ITs adviced to drive up to the tree and if its not too big you can slowly use the tanks weight and push it over, although using the reverse is preferable, like when you drive into large snowbrinks of the sides of roads in reality with tracked veichles.

The AI in game does seem to shoot for the tracks quite a bit, but I believe it was also pretty common IRL. Unless your side is screened by a solid object, most direct hits on the tracks/running gear with AP/HE rounds would likely cause damage.

I agree, the collision model with trees is way off. A number of examples of this have already been posted in the invisible objects thread. There is also plenty of video footage/ accounts of real world tanks plowing through forests/buildings.

With the amount of invisible crap hiding on the maps,

The speeding away will be quickly met with a disabled truck and partially dead crew!

Also if it handles like real trucks and how much bounching around you will get, it will be hard to aim and drive at the same time, plus off road driving will slow down trucks quite a bit and to many tanks the 27 and 20 mm guns wont even be able to pen and just be a annoying thing. Shermans 50 cal will ruin any of these AAA veichles day in a second, and most machine guns in tanks too xD

The AI to me seems OP...

But, maybe it's a balancing thing... T-34's firing at me at 2000m and de-tracking my Tiger... Get outta here... Even on easy they seem to range better then me... I'll let you in on a little secret... Bracketing takes training and practice, of which the poor Russians did not have in WW2...

The Americans estimated that a 76mm gun had to fire 13 times for zeroing before having a 50% chance to hit a target standing still at 1500m

And the Russian's were less or just as poorly trained in '43-45'... Poor little buggers...

Well, i keep bumping into invisible items, suspect trees mainly as they happen a lot sneaking through the bushes.

The TC map is i think worse than others?
