Koenigstiger Posted January 22, 2021 Posted January 22, 2021 Hello tankes, For a meaningful use of the tanks in the communication between the commander and the gunner, it would be desirable if there were a keyboard command to turn the cannon to 12 o'clock - even when using the external camera. Furthermore, it would be nice to be able to rotate the armored turret using the keyboard, joystick or mouse while using the external camera and also to be able to show the position of the target with a small crosshair (or a triangle). These possibilities are available in the game "Iron Front - Liberation 1944" and offer the player the possibility of realizing the good interplay between commander and gunner without significant delays and facilitates, for example, a change of position in difficult terrain and the immediate start of the fire fight. Good luck Guenther 1 2
No_Face Posted January 22, 2021 Posted January 22, 2021 (edited) For my part I will already be happy if the barrel remains fixed when we go from the view of the gunner, to that of the commander and then we return to the view of the shooter. ? Edited January 22, 2021 by No_Face 1

VonLuck Posted January 23, 2021 Posted January 23, 2021 I like it... What if we had a key from the commanders position? So to tell the driver to move to a position in the 3d world space we would hold shift and left mouse click (Driver verbally acknowledges) To tell the gunner where to look we could hold ctrl and left mouse click, this could also select targets to snap fire at (Again verbal acknowledgement)... Ergonomics... It's all about efficiency of controls. The AI is no slouch... usually start pinging our tanks accurately after their second shot... Pretty talented... SOOOO, yeah easy of controls is a must! ?

SOOOO, yeah easy of controls is a must! ? To your first point, we already have this modeled. And it is pretty easy to do even when you are moving. Just hit "Tilde", then move the round targeting icon that appears with your mouse to the point on the map you want to travel to and press the LMB. This is assuming you activated autopilot. But the second point is a real problem with the current model. It would add immensely to the command system if they would add snap to target. Try hitting "Tilde"(open command menu), and then use your mouse to target an enemy vehicle in your LOS. Nearly impossible if either of you are moving. In real life, the commander would give the order to fire on a certain target, and the gunner would attempt to adjust his aim to account for lead, trail, or a direct shot. All targeting an enemy with the mouse is simulating is YOU giving a command to YOUR gunner, but in the current model its like the commander has trouble giving the command. VonLuck Posted January 24, 2021 Posted January 24, 2021 Yeah... I've played around with the in-game version currently "working"... My tank crew sits there like mongs eating their boogers while staring at me... But my fellow troop tanks do as I tell em... Maybe it's bugged... Also I found if I have it in "auto-pilot" my driver starts breakdancing with the my tank... which kinda sucks... But I didn't know, if I have him in "auto-pilot" I can order him about... After he finishes breakdancing... Still... Steel Beast has this licked to the next level... It just seems silly not to copy... I convinced Bohemia Interactive on the Tanks DLC to do this while I was in Prague playing with their T-72... I will prevail!!! Hopefully... If anyone's listening... Directed at you DEVS!!!?
