SShrike Posted January 22, 2021 Posted January 22, 2021 Is it possible to create multiple key mapping profiles? Could one create one for specific aircraft, or one specifically for flying offline and another for multiplayer? Playing offline, I have designated some control buttons for external views etc. These controls are then occupied when flying MP where no externals/padlocks are available. If I could simple choose a profile depending on my arena, I could maximize all controls better. Even if it was simply moving swapping inputs folder in and out of place. Anyone done this with success?
Sokol1 Posted January 22, 2021 Posted January 22, 2021 In game controls no way, only one global profile for any kind of plane is allowed. You can do this manually by renaming the actual profile called "current.action" stored in \Data\input folder with a new name eg. Spitfire, then start game again and create another profile, close the game and manually save as, e.g. Bf 109... and so on. Need replace (by rename) the choose profile before start the game, and if during a play session want to became a "turncoat", need close the game, do the "jugglery" with rename, and then start the game again. Can use JGME (MOD management software) for this file replacement, or use a keymapper software like Joystick Gremlin or your joystick brand software and create profiles with this.

pjmack11377 Posted January 25, 2021 Posted January 25, 2021 After reprograming all keys....took a while I discovered that the throttle was not being read as a joystick. I had to program each x y and z as if it were the joystick equivalent. move to the center, then plus value, then minus. It works now.

Well, there are two approaches if you ask me. Here is what I think of: 1. Simple multi-engine control: Select all engine switch (toggle button) This allows you to simply use your existing control setup you already use for a single engine plane. Downside: You cannot control each engine separately, if you want f.ex. feather a damaged engine etc. 2. Complex multi-engine control (although not 100% historical/technical) - Switch/button to select each engine individually This woks like the first option, but you have more control of each engine and you still can use your default mapping of your single engine setup. And of course, a split throttle lever will help here too. 3. Complex multi-engine control (again not 100% historical/technical) - each engine has its own controls: - Each engine has its own startup button - Each engine has its own radiator, mixture and throttle axis This only works, if you have enough levers and free axis to control your engines separately. And your throttle system should preferably have a split throttle lever, so you can at least control the trust of each engine separately.
