I had that problem before with my trusty old I7-2600k@4200Mhz, but since I replaced it with the 9900k 2years ago it is all smooth sailing.

 

If you want to check if really your CPU ist the bottleneck, download Easy Mission generator by SYN_Vander here: 

 

 

Then setup a "maximal planes mission" like this (screen) with 64 planes roaming around. If you get stutters and time dilation, I´m pretty sure it is your CPU going out of steam:

That 2nd mission has already over 50 planes. That is benchmark enough. Have already the best CPU you can get for my trusty 1150 socket (4.4Ghz turbo for single threaded apps) without buying a new motherboard + cpu and newer ddr4 ram sets. 

In that case i must lower my expectation, or invest in some reasonable upgrade. Any recommendations? Most bang for you bucks wise.

If I were to upgrade my i7-2600k now, I would go for a i7-11700K, new MoBo and 32gigs of RAM. Being no AMD Fan, I avoid switching to the "other" side.

Yeah, i am also like that. ? But AMD seem to have a better reputation these days

I only own Bob and the Dora, and if I want to play this campaign, it tells me i need to buy the BoM and BoK games to play the campaign, and i´d assume the campaign would only use the Bodenplatte map and the Dora wich i both have. Or do you really need the other two versions of the game?

Inside the campaign folder for this campaign there is a textfile. It shoud have a line saying something like "game required." If you own stalingrad. Put the number next to it to 1. If you only have bob i think that is number 6 ?

Thank god for the historically accurate skins!  

First mission - a real bad day for Hell hawks, I've become the ace in a day! The AI behavior was odd at times, but generally the mission was very immersive!

In the second mission, shooting at B-25 I got too close and was hit by the debris and my propeller was gone. I glided down to the nearest airfield and landed just at its edge but the mission objective was not complete... Frustrating!

Since then all my attempts (about 5 of them) on the second mission failed - either shot down or killed in a failed crashlanding..

Sixth or so attempt at mission two ends in crashlanding, I got 4 B-25's down, still mission failed.. 

It's a good thing that attacking large bomber formations is my favourite type of missions!

Finished the campaign with a total of 32 aerial kills + 3 trucks destroyed. Especially I enjoyed the bomber interceptions! 

Thank you for the great campaign, but I had to add an extra main objective triggered at the very beginning of each mission so it's become 100% possible to proceed after landing, even a not so smooth one...

 

Btw, the city fire smokes are still done by the old effect, aren't they? They briefly disappear every minute or so.
