Additional Ranks Added to Career

Type of improvement: Add One Additional Rank to each Country in the Career
Explanation of proposals: I would like to suggest the addition of one rank for each of the countries in the Career. This is just a bit of added immersion factor for those who like to start from the bottom and work our way up. I enjoy starting as the lowest rank and making my way up when I can. I think the addition of the ranks will help round out the ranks already in the career and they won't affect the historical accuracy of ranks given to pilots.

Germany: Unteroffizier

RAF: Sergeant

USAAF: Lieutenant Colonel

USSR: Lieutenant Colonel

Benefits: Added immersion factor and rounding out the ranks already in the Career.

Agreed, I was surprised to see also that the career mode for the Luftwaffe only allows you to progress to the rank of Hauptman. At least Major???

Career mode simulates you flying for a staffel when flying for the Germans, so the rank of Major would be too high for that. It would be far more relevant to add the rank of Unteroffizier, since that was the most common rank for new frontline pilots.

So it is not possible to have Gruppen Stab? They flew?

Technically anything is possible, but it's not explicitly modeled at this point. You just have a staffel of 12 pilots, two of whom are the commander and XO.

 

I've run tests to see to see if I can outfit German units as a full-size Gruppe of 40 planes, and that is certainly possible, but the game doesn't do anything to divide all those pilots into smaller subunits. Hopefully at some point that will be changed.
