cardboard_killer Posted January 9, 2021 Posted January 9, 2021 (edited) [Around 80 years ago] "• Around this time the boardgame “Adler-Luftkampfspiel” comes out in Germany. Using special dice that specify particular flying movements, bombing and outbreaks of fire, the players have to drop their bomb loads, avoid anti-aircraft fire and reach the other side of the board. “Wir fahren gegen England” was released in 1940, depicting the air and sea campaign against the UK. In that one, cards with silhouettes of target ships include vital data regarding tonnage and size and a number that represents the roll needed to sink the ship. The game also includes plastic submarines and plastic airplanes to represent the players. “Kampfgeschwader Vorwärts!” covers destroying an enemy position from the air. These games are primarily aimed at children, with “Oh, Welche Lust Soldat Zu Sein!” portraying the joys of being a soldier, simulating the ‘career’ of a new recruit, from his draft order, moving into the barracks, receiving his uniform and equipment, field exercises, with the first player to complete his training being the winner of the game. Most insidious is “Juden Raus!” which rewards children for turning in the most Jews." Juden Raus with the yellow cones representing Jews Edited January 9, 2021 by cardboard_killer 1
danielprates Posted January 26, 2021 Posted January 26, 2021 Interesting. is this from your personal collection? Should anybody be interested, there is a website which is a sort of 'wiki' for boardgames, called board game geek, and lo and behold, those games are there (some marked as 'disturbing' and they inform that the game is mentioned there only for 'completeness' sake). There are other 1940s games too, like this one: https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/110310/bomber-uber-england
jokerBR Posted January 26, 2021 Posted January 26, 2021 Yep. Recently I bought the "Table Air Combat" to play with my stepson on boardgamegeek. Spits against ME109s. 1
