Just wondering if there is anyone using the slew button on the Warthog throttle it seems pretty pointless and difficult to use being so small. I know there is an updated version by delta sim electronics which I’m interested in doing but just wondering if you can use the mod as just a 4 way switch (up, down, left and right plus centre) just so I can have more key setting to use in BOS or is it mainly for modern jets.

I don’t fly jets and if I did it would be a Korean sim anything after the era I’m not interested in so the above mod may be no good.

If the above mod is not worth it for WW2 sims then is there another mod that would allow a 4 way switch as a replacement for the slew? ?

Agree with everything you say. I do use the slew button but only to bring up the mission map.

I did try to use the slew as a 4 way switch (this was in an attempt to get all functions onto HOTAS as a pre VR trial) but it was hopeless. Map appearing when I tried to open bomb bay doors etc?

The Deltasim mod looks good. I don't see any reason why it wouldn't work as a 4 way switch plus button, after all I have other such buttons on the HOTAS doing just that (Don't know if it's an issue but I do use TM T.A.R.G.E.T. for key binding)

May be worth contacting Deltasim?

Thanks for the reply ciderworm yeah may do that and contact delta sim if they say yes then I’ll order one.

I did start to use TARGET software but found it just as quick to go through key mapping in BOS.

Will post back back when/if I get a reply from delta sim. ?

I have the Deltasim upgrade button, never regretted it, huge improvement, and no need for pedals sofar.

It's not really an easy fit, unless you are used to these jobs.

Jollyjack can it be used as a 4 way switch or only as a slew I’m just interested in a few more options for key setting and replacing a useless button on the hog HOTAS.

z-axis i use only for left-right, but the up-down axis works too; though i don't use it.

That’s great thanks for that, sounds like it’s worth ordering ?

Deltasim mini-stick replacement is useful for jet's, but not so much for IL-2:GB or other WW sim, because  you don't have use for an analog control with return to center, other than aileron, elevator and rudder, already full-fit by stick and pedals (or twist).

Use TARGET or JoyTokey, Joystick Gremlin... and set the slew axis for press keys in each direction, e.g. keyboard arrows up, down, left, right (that have no practical use in default key mapping) and use this keys for some game controls, will wok similar to a 4 way HAT.

Thanks all, I did have a reply from Delta saying the same, sounds like it needs Target software or similar to work the way I want it too.

Will look into it before I order, not to keen on programming software for key commands just seems to take too long.

Pity theres not a swop out 4 way switch as a replacement the slew on the warthog ☹️

I have the original slew axis (up/down) set up in TARGET as 2 different button presses. (Referred to as AXMAP2 in TARGET if you decide to go down that route)

It does work but unfortunately it's almost impossible to operate without inadvertently also pressing the centre button even with the button presses programmed to function in the last 20% of axis travel. May be worth trying a lesser % to see if there's any improvement. Alternatively I could make the centre button only operate as a shifted key.

With the increased travel of the Delta Mod stick I think there would be a much better chance of keeping the 2 functions separated.

I hear what you say about TARGET. I've been using it for a couple of years and, although it is a bit clunky in IL-2 I'm glad I persevered because there are some benefits when compared to  only using the game settings for key bindings. I am an anorak though?

Thanks Ciderworm I started off with TARGET software but then realised I could program button directly in IL2 so that was the easy option but obviously possibly not the best ☹️

Like you say the original button/switch is useless to be honest may be if it was a little longer it would be better.

I'm still thinking on what to do, go for the upgrade and use TARGET or just leave it ?

Decisions decisions!

thanks for all all the info everyone it’s appreciated ??
