VR and Glasses alternative ideas!!!

Hey fellow IL2 enthusiasts!!!

My glasses get in the way of my enjoyment of VR because they are not very VR goggle friendly.  I really don't want to wear contacts at home either, so being part of the military, I did a little tinkering with my issued prescription gas mask inserts (yes, I'm cheap too!!!).  I'm pretty happy with the results as seen in my pictures below.  What has everyone else come up with?

That’s a pretty cool set up you created. Hope it works well for you. I wear glasses in the headset and it seems fine. I’m careful putting the headset on and taking it off to try and make sure I don’t scratch the lenses but I’m always concerned about it. Some folks have purchased prescription lense covers which is what I will prolly do as well.

I bought prescription lenses for my G2, and it was worth every penny. I can get sharp focus much easier than with my glasses which I was constantly adjusting. And it's much more comfortable than wearing glasses under the headset. However glasses in the G2 were much better than glasses under my previous set, the Samsung Odyssey. But either way, I would not want to give up my lenses now that I've experienced them.

The only issue is not being able to see anything once I take my headset off, before I can fumble my way back to wherever I had set my glasses ?

Where did you get them and what does the setup look like?  is it hard to install?

I had the corrective surgery too, but I'm old and it is starting to wear off...

With my glasses under the G2 it hurt the bridge of my nose and the side of my head behind my ears.  I actually scratched the left lens of my G2 also.  =(

I got mine from Widmovr, who are based in Poland. They were the first ones on the market for the G2 from what I saw, which is why I went with them. I believe others offer them now too.

They simply fit snugly over the existing lenses, which takes two seconds to do. That's good if you want other people to be able to use the headset easily. I haven't had them come off unintentionally, so the manufacturing tolerance seems pretty tight.

I will definitely check this out!   Thanks!!!

I got my prescription lens adapters from WidmoVR, too, and they seem quite good - haven't popped off yet, so I recommend them, too.

Just be aware that with the addition of any prescription lens adapters you can probably give up on any of the face gasket mods to bring the lenses closer and increase FOV. Here are photos of my G2 with the  WidmoVR lens adapters installed, and you can see how there's pretty much no additional room (probably the same is true for anyone wearing glasses).

I have ordered from Widmovr myself just before Christmas may not have been the best time to order plus Covid isn’t helping with postage think it was almost 3 weeks for delivery. Had order confirmation but nothing since just have to wait I guess

Seems to be the best option for people wearing glasses and VR

VROptician.com is where I got mine for Odyssey Plus.  No delivery issues last spring after onset of COVID-19.  Fits tightly.  Very happy with results.

Also got mine from there, for both the CV1 and Q1. Absolutely brilliant.

I found a neat setup for my Rift CV1 - a 3-D printed frame for some lenses from a cheap pair of glasses from Zenni - there's an old post in one of the early VR threads about it here on the Forums somewhere.  Worked perfectly and cost a total of about $25 (USD) including shipping for the whole thing.

Haven't replaced my CV1 yet, but the availability of something similar for whatever new HMD I get will be a big factor in my ultimate decision.
