waypoints heading?

Recommended Posts

Hello!

I have tried to see this answered anywhere, but was not able. I have set the options to see only the route planned. The problem is that I don't find anyplace in the map the heading degrees I have to fly to reach those route points. Is there a way to see the route heading between waypoints?

Thanks.

If you open the map (M key) while flying and right click on it there are tools (Ruler, Protractor and markers iirc) you can use to calculate the heading and distance. Like you would on a paper map.

But in most cases you can just approximate by looking at the rough  orientation and do visual navigation do adjust.

A precise calculation using the tools (and also the speed / travel time etc. calculator - Dreieckrechner - provided with the game as a PDF found in the manuals folder) is usually only needed over water or the desert or in bad weather (don‘t think CloD has the latter).

Or if you want to simulate long distance bombing runs realistically for example.

And just in case, 90 degrees is East (right), 180 South (down), 270 West (left) and 0/360 is North (up). Doing it in increments of 30 (divide each quarter by three) or 45 (divide by two) degrees is easiest if going by eye only.

Sorry if this is obvious.

Yes.. I saw the tools... The problem is they are true heading.. and the compass give use magnetic one. Don't know if deviation angles are simulated, and how much was those years (we can go to websites to see it if simulated).

In any case, it would be nice if the lines between waypoints could indicate distance and course in the map in future.

Better do this before start a flight, in mission briefing click o map and activate Map Tools and take note on a paper of headings and estimated ETA times for waypoint's, but since most flights has short distances - difficult is more than 100KM, an "IFFR" flight is sufficient. ;)

Magnetic Declination in Channel is (Rule of the thumb) 10º W (in Tobruk map is 1.5º - don't remember if W or E), add this to you noted headings.

Hello, i followed this thread because of the same problem and no in game help about it.

Clicking on the map during the briefing does not show any "activate map tools", is there something i am missing?

The in game Map once you're spawned in. Right click the screen for Map or by key command.

It doesnt work on the briefing screen, it only operates once spawned in. So spawn then actually use the tool. Then it can be used whilst warming engines or in flight as you wish.
