This issue is not new, but I didn't find any solution. After the update of today, IL2 BoS does not start but shows the error #10005. The Launcher.exe does not re-load the game but shows a longer text stating that it does not find the folder "Update". I do not find it either. Any help how to fix this?

Same problem here.  Yesterday I successfully installed the latest update via Steam and everything worked fine.  This morning brought up BoS and encountered this error.  There was not a new update posted to Steam, so 3 times I did a steam verify files to no avail, then tried a reinstall and still got the same problem.  Any ideas what is going wrong here, hope it wasn't a win10 update that broke this.

I've heard a lot of steam users are having the same issue, and from a standalone user that there was a hotfix a few hours back, so we may just have to wait.

I managed to fix it - I just created the missing "Updater" folder in the directory the launcher was looking for - and it worked fine (even though the folder was empty).  The launcher then checked files and downloaded something.

This also fixed the Steam issue - the "verify cache" did not do anything.

The folder was data - I just created a new, empty folder called "Updater"

The "r" on the end is needed; it is Updater not Update.

A new and tiny BoS update has arrived on Steam, got it installed and all is now well with BoS.  Should have not been so paranoid....oh well.

Open the Steam client. Go to the Steam menu, choose Settings. Go to Downloads and click the Clear Download Cache. Once cleared, relaunch Steam and it will install a new Steam client update. Reboot. Start Il-2 and it will install the latest patch. Reboot  (optional), and then you should be able to start Il-2 normally updated to the latest version.

Dear all, thanks a lot for your help! I cleared the cache as shown above, restarted and it works now. Great support from the community! Happy NY.

Thx in advance!

Can I suggest: 'Run as Administrator'

Zak has some instructions here if you are not sure how to do that:

I have got the same message " #10005: Please Update your game: new version available".  However, I read on Stream "Developer Diary #335, that an update is either in the process or implemented and it is not clear if it has or is being done today, Also not clear is, if it affects the Flying Circus only or all of IL2. Anyone know? The IL2 Home website shows nothing changing.....?

I had to log out of steam and back on, then the update was available
