BoBP career - FW190-F8 - II./SG4 - central bomb holder grayed out

I don´t know if this is intentional or maybe a career configuration error of that II./SG4 unit. Anyways. If you chose to fly for II./SG4 (groundattack unit) in the BoBP career, you can´t use the central ETC 501 bombholder? Is this intentional?

 

 

In contrast to II./SG4 selection of the central ETC 501 bombholder is possible with III./KG51. Shouldn´t it be the same with II./SG4?

It's correct - the Fw 190s of SG 4 were equipped only with rockets after returning to action in late November 1944. III./KG 51, meanwhile, was using planes with standard bomb loadouts.

I guess you came to that conclusion basing on their attack order for 1. January 1945? See Munrho page 73 "guns and M8 projectiles".

 

They were however bombing targets in the bulge area all over the place starting 11/44 with all available assets. So where do you get the idea from that they had no SD or SC 250/500 available at all?

No, there is other info in that book that points to them using rockets only during that time period. However, if you can point me to a source that shows they were bombing targets at that time, I would like to see it.

What passage exactly in the Manrho/Putz book are you referring to? Maybe I misread something here. They state that SG4 was ordered to bomb specific areas?

Thank you! - I see where I have made my mistake. I was reading the portion on III./SG 4 being equipped with rockets and took that to mean all of SG 4 was equipped with rockets. However, re-reading the text, I see now that the other two Gruppen in SG 4 were armed with bombs. I will change things so that the default loadout for SG 4 is like that of III./KG 51 - 1x SC 250 + 4x SD 70.
