How do I link my steam account?

Hi, I have been searching around and I can't find where to link my steam account and il-2 account together. Thanks in advanced for help.

You know, this question comes up once a week, and twice a week during sales. For some reason, the answer is really difficult to find. I had it bookmarked at one point then switched to another computer and didn't keep that bookmark. I don't know why the answer is so hard to find but it is.

Out of curiosity, has there been a new Steam/IL-2 accounts guide created? The question has come up recently on the WW forums and research brought me to this thread.

Which may have happened faster, but after a simple search through the forums here, I cannot refine the search parameters because the re-ordering of results is basically a new search, in too short a time period, triggering a temporary search ban. After which I have to start the search over. Very aggravating, especially when the first response to help queries is always "have you searched for it?" #EyeRoll

I am not succesful in linking accounts  and still in doubt if linking would be benificial in the first place.

Starting the il-2 exe (not steam)  asks me for password and email but no such thing like linking accounts as mentioned in pdf guide

I can login with my il-2 account in the game but then I notice there is no registered game

Steam version is ok, but on-line I suffer from different layers once in cockput, and a restart of the exe resolves this. I suspect this is steam related somehow?

If you bought the Steam version, you should start IL2 from within Steam.

There's a couple of small benefits to linking accounts:

- It shows your name online, rather than some generated "player12345" type of nickname.

- It enables you to buy content in the official website store, which often features pre-purchase packages that Steam doesn't, and use that content in your Steam game.

Perhaps there are others, but it's not necessary or required to link accounts.

No idea what you mean by "different layers," but whatever it is, it should not be Steam related.

It was mentioned before, but solution does not work. EXE needs to be restarted is the only workaround I found so far

When I linked my accounts and it changed to my name rather than the generated number ID I lost all my saved pilot careers. Which I presume I would have to unlink accounts to regain the Campaigns back, which really doesn't make much sense. As much as I dearly love this sim there's lots of things that don't exactly make sense.

Oh, that. On my system, that only happens when I have two instances of IL2 running simultaneously, such as the Mission Editor while I'm also testing the mission in-game.

Once, I had it on the Moscow map while I didn't have a second instance of the game running. Validating all the files in Steam solved it for me.

is it possible to "unlink" my steam account from the standalone? because i own all (except BON) of the series on steam but i cant buy them here for that reason however i dont play on steam because my pc loves the standalone version. performance is waay better on standalone on vr at least. i want to buy BOK and BOM but it tells me i can only buy as a gift. is there a way around this?

i know its one guy handling the tickets so im awaiting assistance but thought id ask. sorry if this is hijacking op's thread. and thank you either way.

To further hijack: Is there a way to get the 'battle ribbons' under our avatars to show our steam purchases here?  My accounts are linked, and I have access to everything, but it'd be kinda cool if I had the ribbons for all the things.  :D

Nope.

Guys I unlinked the accounts. To do so, you have have steam remove the game and all its DLC from your steam account.  You can do this manually by going to steam support and click on the game and select permanently remove from account.  As well as the DLC.

Hope this becomes useful to someone.
