Joystick not mapping

As above was using a virpil stick which I swapped over for the X52 - strangely at start up it now recognises I now have a new x52 stick and throttle plugged in and asks if i want to retain old mapping and move across (i tried to click yes and it didnt seem to allow me to copy across the old bindings) - but when I try and manually map any of the axis of the X52 for either a tank or even an aircraft it does not detect the movement to map the axis or the buttons on my x52 stick?

Note have read I should try and clear my cache file but in the game folder was unable to find anything called "cache" and also in my user/documents folder on my ? drive have no

il2 or il2club folders!
any help appreciated......

Rename or delete the file Devices.txt in game folder... data\input then assign the new controller.

This option only servers for cause confusion, since sticks don't use the VID/PID, and may receive different "ID" from Windows.
