[80 years ago yesterday] "• Two ex-French Grumman Martlet Mk-Is in service with the Fleet Air Arm shoot down a Ju-88A over Scapa Flow [the first victory by a Wildcat/Martlet in the war]. Still not in operational service with the US Navy as the Wildcat, the Martlet becomes very popular with British pilots"

 

As they say, a prophet in his own country . . .
