Quest 2 wireless via Virtual desktop - screen stretch.

Recommended Posts

Posted

Just got my Quest 2, tried running IL-2 via Virtual desktop. But for some reason the image stretched vertically, seems to be aspect ratio related and the stretch is maintained even when I roll my head.

Anyone else have this problem, or a solution to it?

Asking for help on the virtual desktop discord is like trying to talk at a concert.

Also experienced the same, in December already. There is no solution atm, mark it as incompatible.

You can use the Oculus link cable, that's your only option afaik.

Great. Can you share your settings for the guys?

Virtual Desktop version, its settings, SteamVR or OpenComposite, etc.?

con opencomposite no funciona.

El resto no hay nada especial que hacer.

funciona muy bien, aunque los gráficos se ven un poco diferentes, solo  en la resolución y el nivel de color.

More saturated colors ... more colorful, but a little less sharp

Your not helping the TS with this kind of message in a English forum. Do what Fenris wrote down, with a simple print screen, so you do not even need Google translator. Ask the Spanish forum on how to make a screenshot and how to publish this screenshot.

I don't speak English and I do it the best I can and with the best possible intention,  and not with the intention of misinforming anyone

Vale, ha dicho:

- doesn't work with opencomposite

- for anything else, there's nothing special to do

- works quite well, but the graphics look a bit different regarding resolution and contrast

- more colorful, but less sharp

same here I also have difficulties in the  English language, but remember the Google translator is your best friend.  Keep in your mind its not bad learning another language and I know here at this forum nobody makes jokes about wrong spelling. The period that spellnazi’s like @Ming could terrorized a flysim forum is definitely over.

So oculus link is working great.  Even using virtual desktop I kept cable for battery life.  So link working I'm happy.  I turned of asyncronous timewarp and that helped alot!

It works great

Thanks for the feedback!

What are your computer specs?
CPU?GPU?

Monitor resolution/hz?

Though I am fine to fly with the link cable, I am very curious as to why it seems stretched.

¡Gracias por la respuesta!

¿Cuáles son las especificaciones de tu computadora?
CPU? GPU?

¿Resolución del monitor / hz?

Aunque estoy bien para volar con el cable de enlace, tengo mucha curiosidad por saber por qué parece estirado.

hello the specifications of my pc are:
i7 6700
rtx 3070, I have also tried a 1080ti.
monitor 3440x1440 60 hz lg34 UM95
16gb ram ddr4

I don't do anything special and it works perfectly.
more fps.
There is no distortion or compression effects, but there are small stutters when making turns with the plane.
looks great and worth it.

I'm sorry, my English, I do it with a translator

Do the gauges in the cockpits look like perfect circles?  Or are they slightly taller oval gauges??

The vertical stretch is slight but noticeable.  I wonder if they are ovals and you are just not noticing?  It's slight but stretched vertically for us.  When using link or other HMDs the gauges are all perfect circles.

Thanks

Seems like this is a problem for some but not others.  No easy way to diagnose.  I ended up going back to link cable and now I'm getting 55-72fps in missions solid.  So I'm staying with that while using quest till my G2 comes back.

Guys, it might be that chopo misunderstood. You are talking about full wireless. Maybe he is using a cable?

Unknown

Topic says wireless

He's using virtualdesktop.  Can't imagine he's using oculus link with that.  I think he's probably wireless with virtual desktop and different results??
