Game freeze

When I am flying a mission the game freezes a few times a mission. I was about to shoot down a Fw190 and just as I was about pull the trigger the game froze then started  like 2 seconds later and by then the enemy a/c was way out in front of me. This has always happened and its annoying. I have what I think are excellent specs for a pc. Got it less than a year ago I have a EVGA 1070 FTW, 16 DDR and 7200 RPM HDD. Can't be the PC so I assume its a setting or a bug?

1. Make a screenshot of your game's graphic settings

2. Make a screenshot of your campaign settings your running

 

This might help to sort it out.

maybe you should reconsider the settings I marked in red - some of them are very performance taxing and again some of these do not really make much sense.

 

 

- Mirrors: set it a notch down

- Horizon draw distance: set it to 100 km

- Grass on Ultra? Do you want to fly or mow the grass? - set it to normal and all is good

- Clouds quality: set it a notch down. High is good enough. Extreme is very performance taxing

- SSAO/HDR: avoid both - these are too much performance killers

 

You made another screenshot, but I did mean this one:

 

 

Depending on your settings here, your system may go down to the knees.

 

Finally, be careful what MODS you are actually using and how many you are running at the same time - some of them look really nice, but are real performance killers.

I turned down my settings per above and still get freezes. I noticed my HDD is spinning up when it happens. Obviously some issue with data transfer. For the second settings are you saying these should be set per your screen shot? I occasionally play DCS and don't have these issues and that's a pretty graphics intensive sim as well.

My second screenshot is only to show you, where to be also aware of some performance hogs - you don't need to set it to this. It is only an example and I

never start in the air and I always set the difficulty level to hard. The only thing I changed is the front-line density - this can be very, very taxing.

 

Another thing: be sure your Windows OS does not run in eco mode, this also might cause some stutter issues.

Thanks for the support. I had the steam client on my C:/ drive with my SSD and the game files on my d:/drive with a 7200 rpm 2TB drive. So I just moved all the game files over to the SSD and we will see how that works.
