In update 23 they basically upped the refresh rate and removed compression of the link cable. Ah, maybe I should go buy the Quest 2 again if that's the case? How does the performance compare to the Rift S now?

I never owned a rift S. I would rather have a reverb g2 and I own a quest2. We always want what we don't have. For other VR activities e.g. beat saber or shooting games, honestly I think the quest2 is king, full stand alone should not be underrated. Last night however I installed Oculus Tray Tool, turned off ASW and am now pretty certain that me PC is not powerful enough to extract the maximum out of the Quest2. So my money should probably go to further PC upgrades in the first instance.
sg_hubsghub Posted January 11, 2024 Posted January 11, 2024 I've delved into a comparison between the Oculus Quest 2 and the HP Reverb G2 VR headsets, and here’s a concise analysis: Headset Type & PC VR Capabilities: The HP Reverb G2 is PC-tethered, requiring a high-end gaming PC. Oculus Quest 2 is a hybrid, functioning both standalone and tethered. Display & Visuals: Reverb G2 boasts a higher resolution with 2160×2160 per eye, offering clarity and immersion. Quest 2 has a resolution of 1832×1920 per eye, also providing crisp visuals but not as high as the Reverb G2. Comfort & IPD Adjustment: Both headsets have standard strap designs. Quest 2 is lighter, but Reverb G2's padding feels more premium. IPD (Inter-pupillary Distance) adjustment is more granular in Reverb G2. Tracking: Quest 2 offers better tracking with larger volume coverage. Reverb G2, with its camera positioning, can have limitations in tracking range. Controllers: Oculus Touch controllers are favored for better ergonomics and functionality. Reverb G2 controllers are adequate but not as refined as Oculus Touch. Audio: Quest 2 has built-in strap speakers with 3D positional audio. Reverb G2 provides immersive audio with over-ear speakers. Setup & Ease of Use: Both are relatively easy to set up, thanks to inside-out tracking. Quest 2 setup is quicker and more user-friendly. Mods & Upgrades: Quest 2 offers a variety of official and third-party accessories. Reverb G2 also has a good range of third-party mods and upgrades. Games & Content: Quest 2 has a strong library in the Oculus Store and supports Android-based VR games. Reverb G2 taps into the vast library of SteamVR, offering high-quality VR gaming experiences. Which to Buy?: Choose Reverb G2 for top-notch visuals and if you have a high-powered PC. Opt for Quest 2 for a versatile, wireless VR experience and a more budget-friendly option. Each headset has its strengths, and the choice depends on your specific VR needs and setup. Feel free to check out my post for more details or clarification on any of these points!
1PL-Husar-1Esk Posted January 11, 2024 Posted January 11, 2024 I think comparing Q3 to G2 would be more spot on. That's why some guys dupm G2 for Q3.
