Hi Team,

I bought Normandy (on il2-webpage) yesterday, activated the key from there. When launching the game I (from Steam) can see that it has been added to all the other theatres of war, but when starting Career mode there is no option for Normandy.

Any help appriciated! Thanks.

That's the Early access/Pre-order process for you: The career mode and the map für Normandy will be released later. Just now you have only access to Normandy aircraft  already released.

This is also how it was handled in the past when the other modules were in Early Access: You get the finished work as soon as it is ready to present to the public, the more labor-intensive parts get released later (because they need more time to finish).

Hi Tansu,

the answer is quite simple. It's not here yet. You Preordered it what means that you gain early access on the already released parts (in this case the P-47 D-22 and Bf-109 G6 "Late"). New aircraft will arrive in 2021 and the career mode for Normandy will be (moste likely) appear with the Map - what will be more ore less in the end of the development cycle. But you can already play the released aircraft in QMB, Multiplayer and the Bobp-Career Mode :)

best wishes Rico

The 1 million dollar question^^

We can only estimate and specially with Corona it might delayed things a bit butI would place my bet around 2022. (Don't nail me on it ;))

It typically takes about 2ish years from start to finish. We've got two aircraft so far and next year promises to see a whole bunch of new aircraft releases that you'll be able to use with Bodenplatte Career. The Career for Normandy will probably, like with every other title, come last as it will be reliant on both nearly all of the aircraft being finished and on the map. So... early 2022.

We will probably have six of the aircraft released by summer (or fall at the latest though)... they've already released the P-47 D-22, the Bf-109G6 Late... and the P-51B/C and Fw-190A6 will most of their research done as a result of similar aircraft (so 3d models and implementation shouldn't have big delays), the Spit XIV 3d model is probably nearly complete (external model was textured and in engine months ago - even if there are delays with the physics)... and the Typhoon and Mosquito are underway (although I'd expect the Mosquito to be a year out - all of the twin-engined aircraft look complex to implement).

The final release, with a map and campaign, is some ways off.  Probably late 2021 to early 2022 based on past releases, but the real answer is "when it's done".

You do get everything as it's done.  For instance, you can fly the P47 razorback now.  New planes will be available as they are done and will often be incorporated into existing campaigns, so you can't fly them in Normandy until the map is done but you can fly them on the Bodenplatte map.

As the P-51B/C basic model was shown in DD #258 back in August, I'd guess that airplane is well on its way to being released. I'd have to disagree though that the 3D model is similar to the D. Beyond the obvious bubble canopy vs. the original canopy and rear fuselage , the front windscreen was of a different design. The engine cowl panels differed from the D model. The wing was completely different too in the B as was the landing gear. I don't think there was any inter-changeability between the two wing platforms. I think the only major parts of the airframe that really carried over were the vertical and horizontal tail and the radiator scoop.

Very eager for this plane to make its appearance in the BoX series.

Very interesting! Thanks!

Technically, my intent was to suggest that the research was likely to be more complete, and so the research wouldn't delay the 3d model or implementation... but yes, the model will be made from scratch (and undoubtedly there was quite a bit of research work too... just likely using existing sources for a large portion of it).
