ST_Catchov Posted December 19, 2020 Posted December 19, 2020 I'm pretty chuffed that the DH4 will make it into FCII. A splendid 2 seater kite with a great all round performance and a boon for SP and MP alike. I presume we'll get the British Rolls Royce Eagle version? (rated at 375 HP) which I think gave it a top speed at sea level of around 143 MPH which is no slouch for a two seater. In fact, pretty outstanding. I do wonder though whether the devs will also include the American built Liberty engine version? I understand this was rated at 400 HP yet top speed and general performance was significantly lower than the RR version. Was this because of modifications in design/armaments or the heavier weight of the Liberty? In any case it seemed to be liked by the Yanks that flew her and quite successful in the closing stages of the war. Just a thought because a lot of you guys seem to be into different versions/engine specs of the same crate. For historical purposes of course.
NO.20_W_M_Thomson Posted December 19, 2020 Posted December 19, 2020 Thing I didn't like about that thing was the visibility, Had none at all. Guess if you fly it from the back you'd be fine Can't remember the bomb load, Don't think it was great. Maybe it'll be good for recon. I know I'll be sticking with my Bristol and HP. Maybe the Breguet.
No.23_Gaylion Posted December 19, 2020 Posted December 19, 2020 (edited) Either way it should catch fire far more often than any other plane! Edited December 19, 2020 by US213_Talbot
=IRFC=Gascan Posted December 19, 2020 Posted December 19, 2020 In ROF it had the same bomb load as the Bristol (12x20lb, 8x20lb+2x112lb, 2x112lb, 4x112lb), with one additional possibility: 2x230lb bombs. I certainly hope it has the option for different engines. Not trying to change the subject, but engine variants would be very nice to have in FC.

Wonder if they'll model that? I've got a better than even chance, when aiming for pilot or observer, of hitting the large gas tank.
No.23_Triggers Posted December 19, 2020 Posted December 19, 2020 I wouldn't count on it. But if the team are looking into things like brand-new-to-FC collector's planes, then maybe someday...

Maybe the Breguet. I’ve just had the DH4/DH9 File (Sturtivant/Page) delivered and on flicking through something am noticing in photos are a number of them showing clear view panels in the centre section. I’m not sure how prevalent these were. Though those shown do include examples from the Western Front during the war. I think they are of the type that the Strutter in Rise of Flight had rather than the Camel type (clear view panel rather than a cutout). Might be an interesting presumably low effort high reward modification to include on the DH4. And do not remember such a modification existing on the DH4 that was in Rise of Flight. So could be something new to bring to her.
=IRFC=Gascan Posted December 20, 2020 Posted December 20, 2020 That would be great! I'd love to see that happen!
