TheOligopolist Posted December 18, 2020 Posted December 18, 2020 In the default F1 cockpit view, TrackIR does not map 1:1 to what the TrackIR is outputting. More head movement is required, and the axes are limited - you can't look up past 90 degrees for example, which causes frustrating issues when trying to look back and up I've found. From my testing you can remove these limitations by switching to "Head Unlinked cockpit" camera, but then the X,Y and Z axis are locked to the center so you cannot lift your head up slightly for leading shots etc. So, I'd like to know if there is a way to get the best of both of these cameras where head movement is mapped 1:1 with my TrackIR settings and I am still able to move up/down and left to right or is switching between the two camera modes the only option? I'm keen to read how other people deal with this.
=FEW=fernando11 Posted December 18, 2020 Posted December 18, 2020 Hello. As far as I know. The "not looking up past 90 degees" is a design choice. I'm guessing for reslism. As in, your body can't tilt the head much more than 90 degees up. My way of doing it is, look up, then turn left or right to look almost back, and look "down" as needed to look past the 90 degees, and actualy back. The good news, you quickly get used to it. At first I found it a bit weird, but now it's just second nature... About your other issues. I found that only looking up past 90 degees is limited ( and for me it's even a good thing. So you know when tracking a contact if he pased from straight up to a bit behind you and up) but the rest of. The axis are not restricted. The not 1:1 mouvment between trackIR and game is true. But you can work arround it with a bit of time and testing, create a trackIR profile just for il2 GB and adjust the response sensitivity until you can confortably look 180 degrees back to either side, and up/down without loosing tracking from the camera, and then adjust as needed. You'll get it working in no time, and afther a week you dont notice it any more 1
TheOligopolist Posted December 19, 2020 Author Posted December 19, 2020 I think I suspected as much. I'll make a new profile for the game as you suggested, thanks for the advice. ? 1
