Il-2 will not update from the launcher.

How do I update the game? When I try to log into the game, it just tells me I need to update and I have to log back out. How do I do that? I searched on the website and I'm not seeing anything.

Use your games Launcher.exe to update the game. 

 

I put it on my desktop as a shortcut just for game updating.

What app should I open the launcher.exe file with? It wants me to choose one.

Just locate your launcher file in the Bin/Game folder. 

 

Double click on it.

I had to choose an app for it. It's still not doing anything. I have the Launcher.exe file. When I try to launch the game, it says the game is not up to date and I have to log back out to update. I even downloaded the BreeZip which is what it appears you are using for your exe file.

I'm not on Steam. I get it through the website.

Click on the one just above it, you are trying to start a file name laucher.exe of the 'backup' type.

 

The Launcher of type 'Application' is the one to double click

I have the regular game launchers which let me launch the game, but when I try to enter with my email and password, it tells me I need to update.

That was the very first thing I did. It won't let me enter the game. It tells me I need to update and I have to exit the game.

But, looking at its date stamp, it's already updated ... so... Maybe the updated version is not on steam yet?

You need to open up  your game files on your computer drive.

 

Find the Bin Folder.

 

Open the Bin folder. You will see your Game folder. 

 

Open the Game folder. 

 

Double click on the launcher file.

If it is already updated you should be able to start the game and then click on the GREEN start button if you've entered the correct name and password.

Everything is correct. It just says I still need to update. It never updated.

Try deleting your updates folder.

Save a copy first.

 

Then try opening the game.

Okay, I'll try that.

 

 

The launcher says it is analyzing files right now. I think it is downloading the update.

That is a good sign. It may take a while depending upon your internet speed.
