LachenKrieg Posted December 16, 2020 Posted December 16, 2020 (edited) I thought it might be useful to have a place where we can discuss and learn more about gun/armor performance. I found this well researched guide by John Salt to be very interesting, and thought I would start by sharing it here. In it, he compiles the relevant gun/armor performance data from more than 50 sources. Anyone interested in WWII AFV should find this an interesting read. I like his introduction as it offers insight into real world performance that goes beyond just the numbers. He essentially states that reading penetration values from a table implies a certain degree of precision that does not exist, and that real world performance has shown that shots with 100% chance of penetration can fail, and armor expected to deflect a specific type of shot can be defeated. Anyone interested should have a look at page 16, where he quotes a source titled, "Tank versus tank", which allows you to compare the predicted effectiveness of a specific tank gun against a specific armor set up. ww2pen3.zip Edited December 16, 2020 by LachenKrieg 4
