=RS=Funkie Posted December 15, 2020 Posted December 15, 2020 The Symptoms: Low framerates in VR for anyone using Oculus VR Headsets. The problem: IL-2 only uses the steamvr api for communicating with VR headsets. This means that oculus devices need to double handle the data through oculus home as well as steam vr, and this causes low performance for many players. The solution: The current workaround is to use a thirdparty software called "Opencomposite" which works by bypassing steamvr and connecting straight to the Oculus software. But if you have a look through the VR forum, or other IL-2 discord servers. Many people don't know this, or don't know how to configure it, and for some it just doesn't seem to work. The Ideal solution would be to natively support oculus headsets. I don't know exactly how difficult this is to implement, but my understanding is that its fairly straight forward if you've already done the SteamVR integration. With christmas coming up, and the Oculus Quest 2 priced so well, there may be an influx of new and current IL-2 players who want to try flying in VR. And it would be great not to have this invisible hurdle in the way of good performance.

Yeah, as mentioned in my original post, about half way down. However, it's not an official solution, and it needs to be brought up in topics such as this one. When there is essentially "free" but undocumented performance available to any oculus rift user who plays IL2, it would be better if it was just supported natively in my opinion.
