Ledg Posted December 14, 2020 Posted December 14, 2020 (edited) The version I have (11.8.1) looks nothing like the screens and videos, instructions I have seen. I can create a campaign but can't add pilots other than myself. The create pilot option is grayed out. This after going through adding through the coop admin function. There is no cooperative competitive option. The mission screen contains many more options that I don't see on my version. The briefing map has no mission info window on the right side. Also, no pilot selection option and therefore no accept mission option. The version used in the videos is 7.4.0. Is it possible to obtain that version so I can follow along properly? Thanks. EDIT: Accept mission doesn't appear in either SP or Coop. EDIT2: Found accept mission. It follows Briefing map--> Pilot selection. Still can only select one pilot. Create pilot remains greyed out. Ledg Posted December 30, 2020 Author Posted December 30, 2020 (edited) Bumping this topic...I still can't create a second pilot. It stays greyed out. I generate the coop mission fine, I copy the files over to my Dserver copy of BOS. I run it. It appears in coop servers. I connect fine and only get the option to jump into one plane. I tried editing the mission file to change another pilot to coop but that didn't work. Any help would be appreciated. Edited December 30, 2020 by Ledg additional info
Panzerlang Posted December 31, 2020 Posted December 31, 2020 I'm no expert on this but I've found that there are two types of identity, the pilot's name and a user-name, which I believe is required for other humans to use. Outside of the campaign there is a button called "Administer co-op". In there, "Add co-op user". You input your friend's name, that then allows you to create a pilot for him within the campaign you've created.
Stonehouse Posted December 31, 2020 Posted December 31, 2020 I am writing this up for a friend but it may help you. Note it is unfinished and may/will contain errors as it is from my interpretation (which may easily be wrong) and my experience (which doesn't cover all the permutations) plus I have not had time to proof read and correct typos etc. Create a coop campaign notes.zip
Ledg Posted December 31, 2020 Author Posted December 31, 2020 (edited) Thanks Stonehouse. I'll check it out. Also, in reply to Hetzer, I did create the second co-op user but to no avail. EDIT: Looked at the manual. Those are the steps I followed but Create Pilot never lights up for me. Edited December 31, 2020 by Ledg
Stonehouse Posted December 31, 2020 Posted December 31, 2020 (edited) check the campaign name doesn't have any embedded spaces or special characters etc. Just make something simple like Mustangs or something. Numbers used to give a problem - I think Patrick fixed this but can't be sure so just use alphabetic characters and no spaces. eg MustangsAtWar not Mustangs At War. Also just to be sure - you did hit next step after picking the squadron? Hmmm maybe I am misunderstanding what you are doing too...…...Have you created a Online campaign or is this what you are trying to do? Perhaps give a very brief recap of where you are up to? edit - just trying to read your screen shot again and reread posts. Apologies - Ok so you have got a coop campaign and trying to add more player/user pairings. Edited December 31, 2020 by No457_Stonehouse
Panzerlang Posted December 31, 2020 Posted December 31, 2020 I should add that I had exactly the same problem but it went away by itself, I have no idea if it was a glitch or I did something that made it work.
Stonehouse Posted January 1, 2021 Posted January 1, 2021 (edited) Random thought - the pilot name I see in your screen shot looks familiar. Is it one of the PWCG names already in use in I/JG3? If it was possibly that might be a reason for create pilot never highlighting. I have experienced a similar thing creating a campaign where I had a space in the campaign name and the create campaign button didn't become available. Perhaps try something else for a pilot name? Ledg Posted January 1, 2021 Author Posted January 1, 2021 Hehe. I don't think so. It is the name of one of the Beatles friends from their Hamburg days.
Ledg Posted January 1, 2021 Author Posted January 1, 2021 Solved! I was leaving the second field next to Coop user blank. I hadn't noticed that this was filled in automatically for the first user when creating the campaign. When I manually duplicated the name I was able to create the pilot.
PatrickAWlson Posted January 1, 2021 Posted January 1, 2021 Filling in the second field should only be necessary if you did not select an existing human participant from the drop down. It's a convenience to allow you to create a human user without having to abandon the persona creation process and navigate back to the main menu to create the human user.
Stonehouse Posted January 2, 2021 Posted January 2, 2021 Ok I couldn't tell from your screen shot and I assumed you'd picked it from the drop down list of previously registered users. It sounds like your previous attempts failed because the coop user wasn't registered (or was perhaps corrupted) so as Patrick says filling in the second box created the registration or perhaps corrected it. Normally as per Patrick's comment - if you are in the add pilot section and selecting from the drop down list of users then the second field will be blank.
Vishnu Posted January 3, 2021 Posted January 3, 2021 I'm having problems with this as well, but it is in single player mode. Any help would be appreciated.
Ledg Posted January 4, 2021 Author Posted January 4, 2021 I had two users created in the co-op admin and the second user was automatically selected for my second pilot but the 'Create pilot' button didn't light up until I manually typed in the same name in the adjacent field. I have been loving the single missions generated and am looking forward to the co-ops when my friend becomes available. It was well worth the learning curve. Thanks. 1
