Uriah Posted December 13, 2020 Posted December 13, 2020 (edited) I took a peek back into the game after about three years. I have VR and so did not think I would want to bother with the game. But to the point, several things I have noticed. The world no longer looks like it is flooded. Excellent change. After observing Dover from other games, I wondered how I would like it in CloD. I was disappointed. But this is more of a combat flight sim than a landscrape sim. Still. Question: Are the enemy AI still as dumb as a box of rocks. In the past after a short engagement over England they headed home and nothing could get their attention. Edited December 13, 2020 by US3PG_Hubbard hit wrong key and was put out of the text.
Dagwoodyt Posted December 13, 2020 Posted December 13, 2020 (edited) Just from quick and single missions I see the enemy AI as much improved. Still, they perform some pretty outrageous evasive moves. What I think you will also notice is that enemy AI will eventually go into a "dormant" drone mode where they will no longer attack but just do endless evasive maneuvers. Friendly AI are a mixed bag. In multiple instances I have tried to "tune" them in the FMB and sometimes the result is that one or more of them will dart into the Channel waters within the first minute. For me the most frustrating aspect of the game is that of frequent in-mission launcher crashes for which I have not found a solution. Edited December 13, 2020 by Dagwoodyt
Uriah Posted December 13, 2020 Author Posted December 13, 2020 Thanks Dagwoodyt, by what you say the 'endless evasive maneuvers' is a whole lot better than just dormant fly straight home no matter what.

Would like to get your impressions from a 2v2 QM as to enemy and friendly AI. You might also want to try "tuning" AI in the FMB and let us know what happens.

As well your control over then, that remain basically formation commands and "Attack my target" that may work, may not. Edited December 15, 2020 by Sokol1 1

There have been many changes to the AI behaviour. But for those to be really noticeable, the Mission Builder needs to understand how they work and program his mission correctly.
