J37_Daedallus Posted December 12, 2020 Posted December 12, 2020 S! My trackir has become unusable, I have to hold the hat clip about 1 feet away from the receptor for it to light up, and even then the range of movement is too small, I have sat about 3 foot away from the receptor for years with no problem. In camera mode, I get 3 red lights which turn green as I get closer to the receptor. There is flickering in the green light on the receptor. I've cleaned the receptor, dloaded the prog and repaired the existing files, I've tried using it with no other light source around at night and no difference. The problem started when I had to answer a phone call and tried to press mute on the tv, I actually pressed source input, but I can't see how it can affect the problem, the game was running, trackir was running, when I got back in the game trackir acted weird because I had left a little light on near the phone. I moved the receptor around until I saw the light. But when I switched the light off there was flickering in the green light, I could look left ok, but looking right stuttered the view and the green light would blink on the receptor. And now as I say, I can't get it to see the trackclip when I sit in the chair, only if I lift it up, lean forward and place it directly in front of the receptor. It's old so maybe I have to invest in a new one, unless someone can suggest something. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thx.
Guest deleted@83466 Posted December 12, 2020 Posted December 12, 2020 I would make sure that there are no defects on the surface of the reflective parts of the hat clip. Might just need a new hat clip. Even a little gouge will screw things up. I've also, on occasion, gently wiped the reflectors with glass cleaner. Probably just time to get a new one, but try some of these things first.
AndyJWest Posted December 12, 2020 Posted December 12, 2020 TrackIr 5 has a 'light filter threshold' setting which maybe got corrupted? That's about the only thing I can think of that could cause it other than faulty hardware, though if you've reinstalled the software it should have got reset anyway. I think my settings for this are default: 150 for TrackClip (which I use, since it works fine for me), and 240 for TrackClipPro. 1
Remontti Posted December 12, 2020 Posted December 12, 2020 It's been a while since I used trackir but couple of things came to my mind. Check if those IRLEDs in the camera are working. You might be able to see the IR light if you use your phones camera. I think there is a setting for how strong the light is in the tir camera / receptor. I can't remember this setting is for IRLEDs or if it was just for the looks. Could there be some automatic setting that got the light power toned down when you used tv remote? Just guessing at this point. 1
J37_Daedallus Posted December 12, 2020 Author Posted December 12, 2020 (edited) Thx everybody for the replies and help. Big thx to J5 Baumer for spending over 3 hours of his Saturday helping me change every setting and curve going, we eventually found the culprit. It was the IR brightness, somehow the number was too low, when I set it at a max of 15 everything went back to normal. Phew! Edited December 12, 2020 by J5_Daedallus
jollyjack Posted December 13, 2020 Posted December 13, 2020 I found reflections as from a sunlight spot, or a lamp in the (microsoft) camera's field of view can cause problems too. 1
