Mr_Pickles Posted December 9, 2020 Posted December 9, 2020 I just reinstalled my OS. I am copying the contents of the old input folder to the new input folder. I get a dialogue on start that asks me if I want to use my old settings with my new controller. I click accept for all 3 controllers. Nothing. None of my settings are there. I've tried copying them again and not clicking accept on the 3 controllers and the settings are not there either. I've tried copying the old input folder at least 5 times now doing different things with this old settings new controller dialogue box but my settings are not there. Is there something I am doing wrong here? For a game that requires such a massive amount of controller customisation I would prefer a system like War Thunder that allows you to save to a file within the settings window. But here we are. I would really appreciate some help. The thought of setting this game up again from stock is painful. Thanks!
Mr_Pickles Posted December 9, 2020 Author Posted December 9, 2020 (edited) I found a solution. I read several posts about the devices.txt controllers not being in the same order. I deleted the new devices.txt and let IL2 build a new one on it's own in the original order of the old one. I saw my joystick was first in the old devices.txt so I unplugged everything but my joystick and started the game. Then I shut it down and plugged in my throttle which was second in the old list. That was also recognised on restart. Third I shutdown plugged in my pedals and restarted and all my settings were back to normal. Plugging things in one by one using the order of the original devices.txt and restarting tells IL2 the correct order. Stupid system... Edited December 9, 2020 by detroitechno
