DetCord12B Posted December 9, 2020 Posted December 9, 2020 Histories Vikings actually gets a conclusion after being cancelled?! I had no idea it was picked up by Amazon, at all. It may not be as engrossing as The Last Kingdom but it sure is one hell of an entertaining show. 1
9./JG27golani79 Posted December 9, 2020 Posted December 9, 2020 It was really good in the beginning .. season 3 was where it started to "fade away" a bit for me and it changed quite a bit over time (not for the better in my opinion). Still watching it though and already looking forward for the final season.
Robli Posted December 9, 2020 Posted December 9, 2020 The series started great, but the last couple of seasons have been pretty bad. Maybe I will watch the final season to see if they are able to wrap it up in a more decent level.
Feathered_IV Posted December 9, 2020 Posted December 9, 2020 They completely lost me after the third season too. Bunch of underwear models all up dressed for a rave festival. 1
HappyHaddock Posted December 9, 2020 Posted December 9, 2020 Given that I was employed making props for the show I did try to like it... I tried really hard and struggled all the way through the first series but that was all I could take... Sadly if you've got any knowledge or interest in early medieval history it was difficult to even accept the premise these people were Vikings. 2
Trooper117 Posted December 9, 2020 Posted December 9, 2020 It's a good romp with plenty of action and copious amounts of blood and snot... but any semblance to portray Vikings historically will not enthrall the history boffins. By the way, ''Shield Maidens'' didn't exist, despite how good Lagertha looks in combat!...

Much depends upon how you define "shield maiden" - there have been a small number of archaeological excavations of women buried with all the wealth and military trappings of male warriors... Of course that doesn't prove they fought along side their male counter parts and the burials may just have been symbolic of power... plus nobody is suggesting that anything seen on this show should be treated as accurate historic depiction.
DBFlyguy Posted December 9, 2020 Posted December 9, 2020 I've enjoyed the series, glad it's getting a conclusion on Amazon. Really wish Katheryn Winnick (Lagertha) was picked as Captain Marvel instead of who we ended up with ?.... may have made that movie at least somewhat bearable...maybe
sevenless Posted December 10, 2020 Posted December 10, 2020 IMHO It all went downhill after Ragnar´s death. However season 6B is appreciated to finish the story. Interesting bit from here hints to a spin-off dealing with William the Conqueror. Let´s see how it might turn out. Quote Although this will be the end of the main show, a spin-off series named Vikings: Valhalla is in the works. It will be set 100 years after the main show, focusing on William the Conqueror, the invasion of 1066, and the Christianisation of the Pagan world. Hirst has teased that, since the show focuses on descendants of characters we know, we may see a few familiar faces. Vikings final episodes air date unveiled by Amazon in new trailer (digitalspy.com)

How about having the daughter of the Emperor of China as a captive. Bought from a random slave market, one that has been able to keep months-long opium supply with her, that Viking King has to beg from her instead of just taking.
