Yesterday all good with the VR, today all I did was unplug the hotas kit and plug in a simple desktop stick. Now I can't freely move my head around in the cockpit (HP Reverb G2), moving it makes the plane move with it. I've tried the ""limit VR view" checkbox both ways and I changed nothing in the headset's settings. Any ideas guys? Reason for the stick change is I'm taking my PC to the old man (he's 85, ex RAF techie) so he can finally fly a Spitfire. He used to work on them and Mozzies, never got to fly one.

TIA.

Puh. PC restart fixed it.

Not entirely sure what you are describing but it sounds like your headset is not tracking your head movement. Did you try the obvious of unplugging and replugging it or just rebooting?

EDIT

oh, there you are...

I have found Steam VR can act up at times and cause issues with WMR, I will typically restart the PC and all will be well.

The drivers (or whatever) are currently very poor, it's a toss-up whether I get a clean launch or a bunch of various glitches.

I have had this same issue twice now, and in my case simply unplugging my G2’s USB C cable from my computer and restarting WMR and SteamVR fixes it. Pretty maddening when it happens before I figured out a fix

Might try a different USB 3 port, or even a powered USB 3 Hub.

I plug my G2 in to a USB card I added to my case, so it’s directly plugged in to the motherboard and powered. The problem has only happened twice, and I’m just glad we have a workaround

What is the model of your usb card please?

Did you install its drivers manually?

Here a roundup to determine the problem.

1) My advice is use this USB header exclusively for the VR HS. Do not besides the VR HS, plug in an other device as it sometimes can interfere to each other.  Also on motherboards the USB are always being grouped, get the fastest port and do not plug in other devices that are using the same header.

2) Remove the VR HS extension cable if you are using these.

3) As it seems this aspect has been solved in the new Win10 update, but you can try it, you never know. Set everything to “let Windows decide blabla” in W10  Open also the Windows store for updates on Vr related stuff.

4)Using Steam VR beta’s or not, bit strange but once I did had some difficulty with clearancy, that was solved by the Beta, but on the other hand, using Beta could also the cause of problems. If not having problems stick to the last Steam non beta, switching to the beta only as an last attempt.

5) Using the new RTX3000 or 6000(xt) get the newest drivers, but be sure you have deleted all the drivers from your old card.
